J V Jain College decided in Oct 2011 to invite national assessment ant accreditation council (NAAC) for accreditation process. The process began by selecting a team of faculty members from various faculties, who were involved in various activities of the college. The team comprise of coordinators and various members. After submitting a letter of Intent a core team of seven members was appointed who have to work with various faculties. 2.1.4 Is there a mechanism in the institution to review the admission process and

student profiles annually? If ‘yes’ what is the outcome of such an effort and how has

it contributed to the improvement of the process?

Our college maintains the record of admission of previous years in soft copy as

well as on hard copy. We assign a unique ID to all students. When students

pass and get admission in the next class we modify the record with the help of

admission number and their unique ID. By this process we save man power

and this system helps us to trace the student easily.

2.1.5 Reflecting on the strategies adopted to increase/improve access for

following categories of students, enumerate on how the admission policy of

the institution and its student profiles demonstrate/reflect the National

commitment to diversity and inclusion

SC/ST, OBC, Women, Differently abled, Economically weaker sections,

ensure adherence to government policies in this regard?

Despite the number of differently abled students admitted to college being

small necessary help is given to such students. The administrative office is

located on the ground floor. The college has ramp facilities for the differently

abled students. various needs of such students are taken care of by teaching &

non-teaching staff who are always ready to extend helping hand to them. They

needs of advanced learners?

The admission committee of the college at entry point identifies advance

learners by making an analysis of the statement of marks. Also because of

personal contact with students, the teachers identify the problems & need of

advance learners. They help them to acquire the latest information & advanced

knowledge. The faculty sees that advance learners are provided with more

reference books from library. They are also directed & helped to meet eminent

experts who can motivate them to scale higher academic heights. Group

discussion & presentation are held which helps to inculcate leader ship qualities

among the students.

physically challenged, slow learners, economically weaker sections etc.)?

Page 36: JAMBOO VIDYALAYA JAIN COLLEGE, SAHARANPUR

SSR Report- J V Jain College, Saharanpur Page 5

No such process exists in the college but students from the disadvantaged

section of society, physically challenged, slow learners, economically weaker

section etc are helped by teachers personally to reduce their dropout.

Page 43: JAMBOO VIDYALAYA JAIN COLLEGE, SAHARANPUR

SSR Report- J V Jain College, Saharanpur Page 12

The evaluation plays an important role in teaching learning process which helps

to analyze the performance of students during their course. On the basis of this

evaluation college plans for the improvement of bright, average & weak

students. The Academic calendar as notified by the university is displayed on the

notice boards & is available to students through university website. The

concerned faculty explains evaluation methods to the students. They are made

well aware before the examinations (Internal & External) of the evaluation

methods which are communicated personally as well as through notice board.

All the letters, circular, ordinance regarding examination & decision regarding

evaluation are brought to the notice of faculty.

In addition to all these the university also communicates the programme of

evaluation dates of examination & back paper examinations to faculty students

through its website & news papers.

2.5.2 What are the major evaluation reforms of the university that the institution

has adopted and what are the reforms initiated by the institution on its

own?

The major evaluation reforms of university are brought to notice of the

examination committee which in turn applies them to evaluation process in the

institution. For example as objective based questions papers are there in various

syllabus so examination cell explains to faculty for removing the doubts of

students about filling the entries (Name class etc.) correctly. The college tries to

ensure the effective implementation of evaluation reforms.

2.5.3 How does the institution ensure effective implementation of the evaluation

reforms of the university and those initiated by the institution on its own?

Page 44: JAMBOO VIDYALAYA JAIN COLLEGE, SAHARANPUR

SSR Report- J V Jain College, Saharanpur Page 13

Post graduation students of our college in various disciplines are given small

project work or dissertation. Through these small projects the students are

made aware of the new technology & knowledge about the subjects in details.

This helps students to gain knowledge which in turn helps him to set selected in

various competitive examination. This approach adopted by different

departments of the college has made positive impact on the system.

2.5.5 Enumerate on how the institution monitors and communicates the progress

and performance of students through the duration of the

course/programme? Provide an analysis of the students

results/achievements (Programme/course wise for last four years) and

explain the differences if any and patterns of achievement across the

programmes/courses offered.

The college has developed an internal mechanism to monitor the overall

academic performance of the students which includes conducting of internal

test, home assignments, writing projects & presentation work through

2.5.5 Detail on the significant improvements made in ensuring rigor and

transparency in the internal assessment during the last four years and

weightages assigned for the overall development of students (weightage for

behavioral aspects, independent learning, communication skills etc.

Significant improvements have been made for ensuring the transparency in

internal assessment during last few years. The college conducts all internal

examinations and the programme is given by Examination cell to all

departments. All the teachers are involved in holding the examination fairly.

Also there is fair evaluation of the students which is shown by their results.

Teachers assign weightages to behavioral aspects, communication skill &

presentation of the students in seminars & assignments held.

2.5.7 Does the institution and individual teachers use assessment/evaluation as an

indicator for evaluating student performance, achievement of learning

objectives and planning? If ‘yes’ provide details on the process and cite a few

examples.

Page 47: JAMBOO VIDYALAYA JAIN COLLEGE, SAHARANPUR

SSR Report- J V Jain College, Saharanpur Page 16

The assessment evaluation made by teachers is an indicator of student

performance. It helps institutions in its objective of learning & providing

knowledge to students. For example the students of M.Sc. (Maths) are given

small projects which are evaluated gaining confidence about teaching &

knowledge of subjects. Some students are selected for competitive examination

also.

2.5.8 What are the mechanisms for redressal of grievances with reference to

evaluation both at the college and University level?

University Evaluation system: In case students have some problems or

grievances regarding their examination marks, the university has its own

mechanism for redressal as per its rules. If students have any problem or

complaints regarding the examination or results by the university, college

advises such student to follow the procedure as given by university. The college

also writes to university about the problem of students regarding examination

as & when they arise.

College Evaluation System: The college has a systematic mechanism for

redressal of grievances with reference to evaluation. The teachers discuss in

detail the solution of internal examination after the conduct of examination so

students have no doubt in their minds about marking. The college has

examination committee which takes care of all the matters regarding

evaluation, examination & results.
