Background Information

Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1494.

The native people that lived in Jamaica before Christopher Columbus came were called the Taino Indians.

But, the Taino Indians were gradually exterminated and African slaves replaced them.

Background Info continued England had control of Jamaica in

1655 and set up a plantation economy. Some of the crops grown were sugar, cocoa, and coffee.

Jamaica broke away from the British control in 1962 and became independent for the first time in a long time.

the size of Connecticut.

Christopher was a famous rapper in New York in the 1980’s.

Biggie was born on May 21, 1972 and was shot on March 9 1997 in Las Vegas.

Some of his popular songs were Juicy, Big Poppa ,Suicidal Thoughts ,Gimme the Loot.
