JADE is the European Confederation of Junior Enterprises. Existing since 1992, it gathers 14 countries in Europe and over 20,000 students form the top universities in the continent. With 280 Junior Enterprises, the movement generates a cumulated turnover of over 16M €. JADE’s Mission is to be the voice of the European Junior Enterprise Movement by representing, integrating, and supporting the Network.

JADE’s Executive Board is based in Brussels and works with the Commission on matters such as the Entrepreneurship Education strategies, the Oslo Agenda, the SBA for Europe, as well as the SME Week. Furthermore, the Executive Board is actively engaged in partnering activities with businesses and universities, so as to provide a platform for the students to develop innovative businesses. The Executive Board represents the entire JADE Network, coordinate all international activities, ensure the stability of the network and promote it to companies, institutions and media.

I was far from imagining that JADE Spring Meeting 2014 would change my life. During the event, I met André Magalhães (JADE Executive Board 2009). He made me see how 1 year in JADE changed his life. You know what? In less than 1 week, I decided to apply! Being part of JADE ExBo 2014/15, (also) changed my life in so many ways. From improving my English, to working skills and the awesome experience of interacting daily with +7 different nationalities. Even the unique opportunity of visiting and working in +20 countries. As Treasurer of JADE I was responsible for overseeing a +150k€ annual budget. It wasn't easy. But yeah - no one said it would be, right? That's the beauty of it. There will be always challenges (not problems!). And when you think it's over, you will need to prioritize your prioritizations. Today, I’m successful at my work place thanks to what I’ve learnt in JADE. Today, I’ve friends all over Europe (and World) thanks to JADE. §  Promote JADE and the Junior Enterprise concept to third parties (companies, media)

§  Represent JADE and the Junior Enterprise movement in front of European and other international institutions, as well as other European students associations

§  Foster closer links between Junior Enterprises and Confederations §  Coordinate National Confederations’ international activities §  Lead all the departments, projects and processes in the JADE

Tasks of JADE Executive Board



§  Head of some departments, according to personal knowledge, experience and passion

§  Responsible for a number of member countries by communicating to National Boards, exchanging best practices, attending national events representing JADE and staying in contact with the International Managers (representatives of member countries)

§  Project Manager of a few internal and external projects (and partly operational tasks)

§  Different roles in the General Assemblies §  Good and social house-mate, who takes care of the house and

contributes to the team

Internal responsibilities of an Executive Board Member



Specific profile of President: §  You have leadership skills, experience

and you can bring people together §  You are empathic, but you can also be

strict §  You have experience in at least one of

the mentioned responsibilities and are willing to learn the other ones

§  You have at least intermediate English skills

Specific profile of a Vice-President: §  You are organised and can manage your

time and activities properly, between meetings, events and office work

“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” RUMI After nearly two years as a Junior Entrepreneur in the UK, I had the great opportunity to experience how a small group of passionate and dedicated individuals could drive successfully self-sustainable organisation (JE) thanks to their deep purpose for self-development and responsibility to steer their futures in the direction they desired. It is in these shared values, such as a passion and purpose that drew me to become part of JADE Executive Board Member in 2013. Joining JADE was by far one of the hardest decisions I had to make in my life! Relocating to Brussels, the opportunity cost of time, relationships and fear of what I would miss, were some of my thoughts that kept awake at night for weeks. Nevertheless, looking back at the journey of becoming JADE ExBo this gave me the unique opportunity to feel empowered to use all my skills, drive and passion to represent the unique network changemakers. Moreover, I was able to see my strengths, weaknesses and build upon these with the support of a team driven by enthusiasm and self-believe. I developed the necessary skills and confidence to pursue any challenge in my life as a result of having to lead a team, work under pressure and dealt with some of the biggest Corporations and European Institutions. As well as represented the vision of JADE network and value of the concept of the Junior Enterprise for youth in Europe in some of the most important events in Brussels. I recommend this opportunity to anyone, who believes that individuals can make a difference, and that hard work and passion are the main elements to find solutions. Alumni Management Communicate to and exchange with the JADUS (former JADE ExBo and Senior Project Managers), as well as Alumni from the whole network. Get to know a lot of fruitful contacts for the future.

Communication Manage the media contacts, write press releases or manage website content. Make JADE famous in Social Media and any events we participate in.

Events Organise and supervise local and international events, especially JADE Spring Meeting, Europe´s biggest annual JE event. Let the network grow through exchange and active participation.

Some of your tasks: §  Organise JADE’s events in Brussels §  Supervise the outsourced JADE events §  Improve the international get-togethers §  Manage the strategic focus of JADE’s events

Finance Manage the financial resources, forecast and budget. Help JADE to increase reserves as well as to overview the expenses and their necessity.

Human Resources Build the base of JADE organisation by managing recruitment of the team and future ExBo, bringing the team together to boost performance, being the person who has an ear for everyone.

Some of your tasks: §  Recruitment of Project Managers §  Recruitment of the next Executive Board §  Managing internal training and feedback sessions §  Being there for other people’s needs and worries

Headquarter Management Be responsible for the House and Headquarters, in order to guarantee an efficient and comfortable working and living environment.

Some of your tasks: §  Organise the activities in the house §  Be responsible for the Open Doors Programme of JADE §  Ensure a great working and living environment

Internal Communication Integrate members and be in charge of the communication line between JADE Team and JADE´s members. Be the central contact for them at JADE HQ and organise the General Assemblies.

Internal Management You will be able to create and manage a highly developed Knowledge and Quality Management system and support the team with a sustainable internal structure.

International Relations Stay in contact with non-European Junior Enterprises and Confederations, such as Brasil Júnior or JET and experience the culture of other continents. Bring forward our global movement!

Some of your tasks: §  Regular exchanges with our partner Brasil Júnior §  International meetings between all non-European confederations §  Be responsible for the global movement

IT Management Coordinate all technical matters, from media to programming. Let the HQ and team work run fluent. Take care of the technical needs and different platforms of JADE.

Legal Management Ensure the legalisation of needed documentation, consult JADE legal advisor Baker & McKenzie and create contracts for various stakeholders.

Network Quality Play an active role in spreading the Junior Enterprise concept within JADE countries and beyond and have a significant impact on the member countries by creating tools and services for them.

Private Cooperation Develop new and looking after the existing contacts of JADE with private companies or universities in whole Europe for developing financial partnerships.

Public Affairs Develop new and looking after existing contacts with Europe´s policy maker. Cooperate with other NGOs and have a big impact for the network. Also you are responsible of European Grant applications.

Some of your tasks: §  Speak in front of European stakeholders §  Promote the Junior Enterprise concept on conferences and

discussion rounds all over Europe §  Manage the relationship with other European NGOs

Strategy Management Develop and monitor an Annual Plan for JADE by gathering the stakeholders’ opinions, such as the Team, Alumni, International Managers. Make sure that the organisation thinks strategically!

Training Take part in the additional training of Junior Entrepreneurs by organising training programs for them, managing the JADE Academy and spreading the knowledge throughout Europe.

The JADE experience has changed my life in ways that are becoming every day more obvious. I have not only learnt a great deal of hard skills but I have also gained tremendous knowledge about human relationships within a professional environment. I have been exposed to situations and challenges other young people my age would never be exposed to. Today I feel empowered to do anything I want in my life and JADE has contributed a lot to it.

Working in JADE had a profound impact on my understanding of how leadership and responsibility define the world around me. As part of the Executive Board I had the opportunity to see and interact with the factors that influence young people's perspectives all over Europe and to witness how International openess fosters more determination, more progress and more entrepreneurship. Living in Brussels

Working and living in Brussels


Working and living in Brussels Brussels is an old European city with lovely parks and secret little streets. You can find a wide variety of cultural activities and many international people. The HQ in Brussels, the capital of Europe, helps JADE to be closer to the European Institutions and some other international Headquarters of companies, which support our Network. The geographic location makes travelling around Europe really easy.



Living in JADE Headquarters


Working and living in JADE House During the ExBo term of service (1st August 2016 – 31st July 2017), the elected members move to JADE HQ in Brussels, Belgium. JADE HQ has one floor with offices and the rest of the floors are set up for living (bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, kitchen etc.). During the stay in JADE HQ, the ExBo members have to share the space with other people, who also work and live there (Assistants or (Senior) Project Managers), as well as with guests from the Network. The work of JADE ExBo is voluntary, so unpaid. However, the ExBo members do not have to pay from their personal money for accommodation and utilities in JADE HQ, daily food, fees and transport to attend international and national events (the amount though depends on the budget that can vary from year to year).

Profile of applicants for JADE Executive Board 2016: We are looking for Junior Entrepreneurs, who… ü  are a JADE Member (in a Junior Enterprise or at Confederation level) ü  are students or fresh graduates with the ability to seriously relocate to Brussels for one year ü  have good command of English and desire to improve professional use of foreign languages ü  identify their values with those of a Junior Entrepreneur ü  are passionate about JADE concept and spirit

ExBo 2017 Term of Service: 1st August 2016 – 31st July 2017 •  Full-time working and living in JADE Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium •  Compulsory attendance handover in the HQ starts in 15th July To be able to work full-time for one year, previous JADE ExBo either took a gap year in their studies, or continued studies and took JADE ExBo as an internship approved by the university, or they were recent Bachelor graduates (going to Master after JADE year)

How to finance this adventure? Your activities at JADE are recognized as an internship abroad and in many countries you can apply therefore for different grants, e.g. Erasmus+. How to finance as JADE ExBo




Description of election process After submitting the application there will be a brief Skype interview with the applicants about their work style. This is not a selection phase, so all the applicants commit to attend the Assessment and Teambuilding weekend. This teambuilding is very important since it gives the chance to meet all people as well as to get to know better how it is to work in JADE HQ seeing how well they interact on personal and professional level. We will also have some small assessment projects to get an idea about the commitment of the applicants. After these stages, the current ExBo will evaluate each candidate and write their profile folders which will be sent to JADE Members to get to know the candidates better. The elections will take place during JADE May Meeting 2016, in Zagreb May 27th to May 29th . Here the General Assembly (formed by the member countries) will vote YES or NO.
