Jacobus: the ultra-clean wood-burning stove
Index
Choosing a Jacobus means choosing for a high-quality wood stove that will last a lifetime.
Durable, ultra-clean and easy to handle. That’s what the Jacobus wood-
burning stove stands for. Ever since 1981, wood-burning stoves have been
designed and produced in Janco de Jong’s iron-work atelier in Gorredijk.
The Janus wood-burning stove has been generally known and respected within
the country and beyond.
The Jacobus stove combines all strong features of the Janus, with a revolutionary
combustion technique ensuring a very low CO emission. An important advantage
for the user is that the glass of the stove stays perfectly clean as the combustion is
cleaner. Moreover, the Jacobus also offers the option to add outside air which makes
the stove ideal for using it in insulates (newly built) homes. Add to this all the smart
details, like a one-button operation, and the result is a unique wood-burning stove.
The Jacobus meets the requirements of the European EN13240 standard and
has a CE marking. Thanks to the patented combustion system, the Jacobus
amply satisfies the German DIN+ standard and even meets the strictest
standard known in Europe: the Austrian 15a B-VG standard. This standard sets
requirements on 78% efficiency and a maximum emission of 1200ppm CO,
even when burning half power. The Jacobus satisfies this requirement with a
yield of 80% and a CO emission below 1000ppm.

The Jacobus is an ultra-clean stove with a revolutionary, patented combustion technology.
The timeless design of the Janus stoves was the basis for the design of the Jacobus wood stove.
The Jacobus is a wood-burning stove with a wide performance range.
The stove has a large capacity and a well-regulated heat delivery, therefore suitable for small and for large spaces.
The Jacobus has the standard option to bring in outside air for combustion.
One-button operation, so there is always the right ratio between the supplied primary and secondary air.
Very clean glass pane due to the patented combustion system.
The JAcobus combustion chamber is made of heat resistant Corten steel. Corten steel has a high thermal conductivity effect and guarantees the longevity of the stove.
The Jacobus summarized:
5
The Jacobus wood stove is a real Dutch product that owes its creation to many
years of experience and professional skill. The wood stove is made of Cor-Ten steel.
The combustion chamber is provided with an interior of compressed heat-proof
material. This unique material combines a high insulation value with excellent
mechanical qualities ensuring a long life span. The heat is largely transferred by
convection. The combustion system is unique for the Jacobus wood stove. With this
special system, the combustion is much more effective and CO emission much lower.
The high yield (up to 85%) is achieved by heating both the primary and secondary
combustion air. This air, preheated to around 200 degrees, is then distributed over
the entire fire place creating a broad flame front. The complete combustion is made
possible by the sophisticated shape and positioning of the air supply. Swirling makes
that the oxygen and gases are optimally mixed. The integrated ventilation system for
the glass pane ensures that the pane stays perfectly clean. The unique suspension
of the combustion chamber limits irritating background noise caused by differences
in pressure to a minimum.
The linear movement of the operation button with cam ring gives noticeable optimal
setting of the stove. When the air slide is in this position, the air supply is adjusted to
give an optimal combustion. This means the highest yield with the lowest emission of
polluted particles. The optimum position is easily adjustable and can be modified in
no time to variables like kind of fuel and draught in the chimney.
A marvel of technology
Since the development of the Janus wood stove, the stoves have been produced
in-house by Janco de Jong. First in Oldeberkoop, and later in 1996 the production
was moved to Gorredijk. In 2002, demand for Janus wood stoves was so great that
the space in Gorredijk became too small for serving as the only production site.
In order to keep an optimal price quality ratio for the Janus stoves, the management
tried to find another solution for the most labour-intensive part of the production.
The high-quality steel is purchased in the Netherlands. The laser-cut sheets are folded
and then constructed by a welding robot in Gorredijk. These semi-finished products
are then transported to Poland where the stoves are completed and assembled
and where investment has been made in the construction of a modern production
site where all is built in-house and is run by a Dutch-Polish management team.
The location has, among other things, 2 CNC hydraulic press brakes, two welding
robots, a fully automatic jet stream installation, painting streets and assembly lines.
The high tech machinery combined with the craftsmanship of skilled and highly
motivated professionals in the Polish factory makes it possible to easily meet the
high demand for affordable stoves of a consistent high quality.
ModelsThe Jacobus is available in three versions. One of the characteristics of the Jacobus
is that you can customise the output according to your wishes. For example, the
Jacobus 6 can produce a yield ranging from 3.5 to 7KW, the Jacobus 9 from 5 to
10KW and the Jacobus 12 from 7 to 14KW.
Each model is equipped with an upper and a rear connection, so with a simple step
you can adapt the Jacobus wood stove to fit your needs. Moreover, the Jacobus has
the option for outside air supply, which makes the stove ideal for well-insulated, (newly
built) homes. As standard, the stove is sand blasted and painted with anthracite
black heat resistant enamel. A Jacobus wood stove with a self-closing door is also
available upon request. The Jacobus wood stove complies with the requirements of
the European Standard EN13240.

Friendly for the environmentA comfortable way of life is largely determined by a pleasant
temperature. One of the most environmentally friendly ways to heat
a home is with a Jacobus wood stove, certainly when the stove is
operated correctly. Wood is a non-fossil natural product which makes
it an eco-friendly source of energy. Wood burning is carbon neutral.
Moreover, the Jacobus meets the strictest European environmental
standards. In short: if you want to combine comfort with dealing
responsibly with the environment, you have made a sensible choice
with a Jacobus wood stove.
9
Jacobus 6The smallest Jacobus has a capacity
ranging from 3.5KW to 7KW and heats
spaces to approximately 120m3. The
mini is particularly suited to rooms where
comfort and cosiness are more important
than a high heat output.
Jacobus 9 The Jacobus 9 is the middle model with
regards to capacity that will fit in almost
every living room. The output can easily
be determined and varies from 5 to 10KW.
This means that the Jacobus 9 is suitable
for rooms up to 160m3.
Jacobus 12The largest Jacobus is ideally suited to
burn large blocks of wood. With a capacity
range from 7 to 14KW, the Jacobus 12 is
perfect for heating a larger than average
living room or other spaces up to 250m3.

Extras
Included with every delivery of a woodstove are an ash scoop, a heat resistant spray lacquer
and a practical manual. How convenient is that?
Also available in the range:
Other handles
Would you like to have other handles for a classic look? Ask for the original bakelite handles.
Self designed: the Jacobus slide pipe
The Jacobus stove comes with all the accompanying materials such as flooring, pipe
materials, rosettes and tapers. These materials are manufactured by Janco de Jong itself,
so quality is guaranteed! Janco de Jong has now developed and brought to the market its
own sliding pipe system, so dealers and DIYers can install a Jacobus wood stove with more
ease and pleasure.
Practical: the hotplate
With this hotplate you can keep a pot of tea or for example a delicious pan of soup warm on
your stove – and without damaging it. It’s also handy to put a kettle on, this way you always
have warm water to hand whilst maintaining humidity levels in the room.
You can even cook on your stove
Do you want to boil a kettle or prepare some meat for braising on your JAcobus wood stove?
This is possible with the optional stainless steel hob. The round plate protrudes above the
stove slightly in order not to damage the paint.
Stylish fire irons
Professional Janco de Jong has also designed a stylish yet functional set of fire irons. There
are two versions: standing and hanging. Unique to the fire iron is the poker which also acts
as a blow pipe with which to waken the fire!
