The mission of BFMA is to foster financial stability by providing budgeting, bill

payment, and advocacy as a representative payee to disabled, homeless, and elderly

persons in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

BFMA assists individuals receiving Social Security benefits and already have a payee or Social

Security has determined they need one before benefits can be paid. Other individuals who need

a payee but they are receiving their own check currently can obtain a payee by completing a

physicians statement showing need. Please contact BFMA for additional information.

intake processing but an initial phone call to schedule is preferred. The turn-around from initial

call to residential placement can be as little as one week.

referrals (Meals-on-Wheels, relocation assistance, home gardening and more). MLM has three

permanent supportive housing projects for homeless individuals with disabilities: Grace

HomesProject CARE Permanent Housing Luther Johnson Homes. Each project has supportive

case management services to assist clients with self-care, empowerment, socialization and

achievement of their individual goals.
