This moment will be a time of jubilant victory for some. On the other hand, this moment will be a time of weeping for others. Paul, dealing with this hour of judgment, states in 2 Corinthians 5:11, Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.

“Terror”? Yes, terror! How often Christians hilariously shout, “Praise the Lord, Jesus is coming soon!” Though His return will be the most joyous event of the ages for some, it will also be a time of intense and immense sorrow for others. First John 2:28 declares, And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ASHAMED before him at his coming (emphasis mine).

Notice carefully that when Christ returns, all believers are summoned

into His presence — both the confident and the ashamed. The confident appear before the tribunal with “good works” whereas the ashamed have naught but “bad works” (2 Corinthians 5:10). This fact is exceedingly important because multitudes today think that one sin can keep a child of God out of heaven. The text plainly states that the “ashamed” meet Christ at His appearing.

At the sound of the trumpet, when the dead in Christ rise first and living believers join them to meet Christ in the clouds (1 Thessalonians 4:17), the “ashamed” also enter heaven. However, the abundant entrance is reserved for those who earned it upon earth (2 Peter 1:11). This text proves that the wayward go home to meet Christ though

ashamed. Since one can only bear shame for error and wrongdoing, then it is dogmatically clear that the wrongdoers meet Christ at His appearing or return. I grant you that they are embarrassed and lose all of their rewards, but they are nevertheless present at the roll call of the ages, and saved so as by fire (I Corinthians 3:25) or “by the skin of their teeth,” to use a modern-day expression.

What produces their embarrassment and humiliation as believers?

Neglected OppOrtuNitiesMultitudes of God’s people could do so much more for Christ if they would, but the flesh stands in the way. When they do serve, it is often with selfish motives. Their hue and cry is, “What will I get out of this? What is in it for me?” The result? Modem Christianity has become big business. Though saved by fire, their works will dissolve into incinerated

ashes. The wood, hay, and stubble will disintegrate because they had their reward. About face, Christian!

Then again, there are those who have little or no time for spiritual exercises. They seldom read God’s Holy Word, seldom attend God’s house, seldom give their tithes, and never win souls. This is sin! James 4:17 states, Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. These sins of omission — failing to do God’s will — also produce remorse in that day.

Friend, if I am describing you, it is not too late to change. As long as one has the breath of life, he can decide to do the will of God. Confess your sins, seek again your first love of Christ, rekindle

Someday, perhaps very soon, every Christian must meet God for an investigative judgment of his entire life.

except their salvation.This loss extends beyond the loss

of rewards for a meaningless life. It includes losing, through foolish living, rewards previously earned during years of spiritual service! Yes, God has a system of addition and subtraction, pluses and minuses, in His bookkeeping system. Therefore, one’s accumulation of “good works” can be swiftly destroyed through disobedience.

You do not believe these statements? Here is proof: Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought [or earned], that we receive a full reward (2 John 8). God is saying, in effect, “Be careful how you live, where you go, how you serve, if you want a full reward.”

Again, hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown (Revelation 3:11). In simpler terminology, God is saying, “Hang on to your earned crown and do not let anyone entice you, mislead you, drag you down, or destroy the good works you have accumulated or you will suffer loss.” Paul, led by the Holy Spirit, also declares in I Corinthians 9:27, But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway [a reject for rewards]. He could not mean the loss of salvation by this term because we have already seen that the “ashamed” are present at heaven’s roll call, though saved

by fire. Instead, Paul is saying, “Look, I am a red-blooded man with desires similar to others. However, I simply will not allow my flesh to control me. Instead, I constantly battle and batter my fleshly appetites into subjection. Yes, I keep my bodily appetites under control lest I lose everything I have ever earned.”

Now if this was true for Paul, it is equally true for all. In fact, Paul’s service record is unparalleled in the history of Christendom. No one suffered as he did except the Lord Jesus himself.

Wow! What a servant of God — beaten, battered, stoned, crushed, robbed, persecuted, hated, and starved. Surely this portfolio of

earned works would bring Paul heaven’s greatest “Emmy.” It would if he remained faithful! Remember, he said as quoted earlier, “If I did not keep my body under and bring it into subjection, I myself would be a castaway, disapproved, and rejected for heaven’s ‘Emmy Awards.’ Therefore, I fight the good fight of

faith — fight the world, the flesh, and the devil — so that my Savior will say to me in that day, ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant.’”

How about YOU, Christian? If the Judgment Seat took place within the next 24 hours, would you lose some or all of your rewards? Millions are going home ashamed, embarrassed, or red-faced!

tears iN heaVeNThe result will be intermittent weeping for 1,007 years. This is proven by studying the chronological outline of the Book of Revelation. Chapter 1, verse 19, states, Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter. One immediately notices the three tenses of the English language — past, present, and future. Chapter 1 is the past, Chapters 2 and 3 contain the present, and Chapters 4 through 22 reveal the future.

We are presently awaiting the homegoing of believers — the Rapture — which is described in Revelation 4:1 when God says, Come up hither. The seven years of Tribulation follow in Chapters 6 through 18. Christ returns to earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords in Chapter 19, verses 11–16, rules the earth for 1,000 years (20:4–6), and judges the world after His millennial reign (20:11–15). Then, finally and forever, God wipes away all tears from the eyes of His children (21:4). Thus, from the Rapture call in Revelation 4:1 to the wiping away of tears in 21:4, there is intermittent and spasmodic weeping for 1,007 years!

Is your carnal episode with the world that important to you? Will it have been worth it all when we see Jesus? Turn from the path of sin to the path of service, and prepare for a glorious, triumphant entrance into the presence of the King! Then at that hour, you will receive crowns to place at the feet of your beautiful Savior (Revelation 4:10–11).

the flames of devotion to the Lord Jesus immediately. Then use your opportunities to serve Him wisely. One who obeys God will not be sorry. The faithful will be rewarded a hundred-fold at the Bema Seat. Scholars calculate this to be a 10,000 percent yield! Believe me — tithing and service will be rewarded.

Christian, your heavenly mansion will only be as beautiful as you build it now. Jesus said in John 14:2, In my Father’s house are many mansions. The literal rendering should state, “In my Father’s house are numerous and differing kinds of dwelling places.” Not all mansions will be identical. Building blocks for one’s eternal home are being sent ahead from earth. Jesus said, Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19–20).

If one’s earthly treasure is piled up in stocks and bonds and banks, he has his reward. On the other hand, if the treasure is sent ahead, it awaits the believer with added and fantastic dividends. Take your choice, Christian. You can have it here for 70 years, die, and leave it for the ungodly to spend; or you may send it ahead for eternal blessings. Hang on and lose it, or let go and retain it forever. It is up to you! (Those who supported our ministry can rejoice in the knowledge of the rewards they will have in heaven because

they helped us reach 2.5 million who made decisions for Christ through our television programs and world radio broadcasts in the languages of the people.)

May I share a heart-moving experience with you? When Rexella and I were in Hershey, Pennsylvania, a man sitting in a wheelchair asked to speak to us. When we reached the area where he sat, he began to weep, saying, “I am an invalid, as you can see. I have multiple sclerosis and osteoarthritis. The pain is great, and my pain medication costs me $100 per month.

Nevertheless, I have made a decision after much prayer. I want to give you the hundred dollars and do without this month’s medicine. It is the least I can do for Christ who suffered such agony for me. Please take the money and use it for His glory.” Rexella and I, both in tears, replied, “We cannot accept this gift.” Again weeping audibly, the man said, “Would you deprive me of a blessing? Take it for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.”

How many thousands who have a superabundance of material blessings — stocks, bonds, bank accounts, and other possessions — do nothing but “tip” God occasionally. Do you still think there will be no difference at the time rewards are given? Do you honestly believe that it will be the same for all? Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7). We are all going home

soon — either confident or ashamed. Will it be a time of victory or anguish, triumph or tears for YOU? It is not too late to make a new start.

Neglected hOliNessThere will also be tears in heaven because of neglected holiness. There is no doubt about it. God demands that His people live holy lives. For God hath not called us to uncleanness, but unto holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:7). Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling... (2 Timothy 1:9). Follow peace with all men, and holiness (Hebrews 12:14). Be ye holy, for I am holy (1 Peter 1:16). This means that we are not to fashion ourselves according to the former lusts (1 Peter 1:14); instead we are to abstain from fleshly lusts (1 Peter 2:11) and to put on Christ and not make any provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof (Romans 13:14).

How different from the lowly standards held by many carnal church members who constantly play “musical chairs” with the pagans of this world. These indifferent backsliders run with the world. Are they saved? God alone really knows! One thing is certain — if they are Christ’s, their double standards will be investigated. except their salvation.This loss extends beyond the loss

of rewards for a meaningless life. It includes losing, through foolish living, rewards previously earned during years of spiritual service! Yes, God has a system of addition and subtraction, pluses and minuses, in His bookkeeping system. Therefore, one’s accumulation of “good works” can be swiftly destroyed through disobedience.

You do not believe these statements? Here is proof: Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought [or earned], that we receive a full reward (2 John 8). God is saying, in effect, “Be careful how you live, where you go, how you serve, if you want a full reward.”

Again, hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown (Revelation 3:11). In simpler terminology, God is saying, “Hang on to your earned crown and do not let anyone entice you, mislead you, drag you down, or destroy the good works you have accumulated or you will suffer loss.” Paul, led by the Holy Spirit, also declares in I Corinthians 9:27, But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway [a reject for rewards]. He could not mean the loss of salvation by this term because we have already seen that the “ashamed” are present at heaven’s roll call, though saved

by fire. Instead, Paul is saying, “Look, I am a red-blooded man with desires similar to others. However, I simply will not allow my flesh to control me. Instead, I constantly battle and batter my fleshly appetites into subjection. Yes, I keep my bodily appetites under control lest I lose everything I have ever earned.”

Now if this was true for Paul, it is equally true for all. In fact, Paul’s service record is unparalleled in the history of Christendom. No one suffered as he did except the Lord Jesus himself.

Wow! What a servant of God — beaten, battered, stoned, crushed, robbed, persecuted, hated, and starved. Surely this portfolio of

earned works would bring Paul heaven’s greatest “Emmy.” It would if he remained faithful! Remember, he said as quoted earlier, “If I did not keep my body under and bring it into subjection, I myself would be a castaway, disapproved, and rejected for heaven’s ‘Emmy Awards.’ Therefore, I fight the good fight of

faith — fight the world, the flesh, and the devil — so that my Savior will say to me in that day, ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant.’”

How about YOU, Christian? If the Judgment Seat took place within the next 24 hours, would you lose some or all of your rewards? Millions are going home ashamed, embarrassed, or red-faced!

tears iN heaVeNThe result will be intermittent weeping for 1,007 years. This is proven by studying the chronological outline of the Book of Revelation. Chapter 1, verse 19, states, Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter. One immediately notices the three tenses of the English language — past, present, and future. Chapter 1 is the past, Chapters 2 and 3 contain the present, and Chapters 4 through 22 reveal the future.

We are presently awaiting the homegoing of believers — the Rapture — which is described in Revelation 4:1 when God says, Come up hither. The seven years of Tribulation follow in Chapters 6 through 18. Christ returns to earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords in Chapter 19, verses 11–16, rules the earth for 1,000 years (20:4–6), and judges the world after His millennial reign (20:11–15). Then, finally and forever, God wipes away all tears from the eyes of His children (21:4). Thus, from the Rapture call in Revelation 4:1 to the wiping away of tears in 21:4, there is intermittent and spasmodic weeping for 1,007 years!

Is your carnal episode with the world that important to you? Will it have been worth it all when we see Jesus? Turn from the path of sin to the path of service, and prepare for a glorious, triumphant entrance into the presence of the King! Then at that hour, you will receive crowns to place at the feet of your beautiful Savior (Revelation 4:10–11).

the flames of devotion to the Lord Jesus immediately. Then use your opportunities to serve Him wisely. One who obeys God will not be sorry. The faithful will be rewarded a hundred-fold at the Bema Seat. Scholars calculate this to be a 10,000 percent yield! Believe me — tithing and service will be rewarded.

Christian, your heavenly mansion will only be as beautiful as you build it now. Jesus said in John 14:2, In my Father’s house are many mansions. The literal rendering should state, “In my Father’s house are numerous and differing kinds of dwelling places.” Not all mansions will be identical. Building blocks for one’s eternal home are being sent ahead from earth. Jesus said, Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19–20).

If one’s earthly treasure is piled up in stocks and bonds and banks, he has his reward. On the other hand, if the treasure is sent ahead, it awaits the believer with added and fantastic dividends. Take your choice, Christian. You can have it here for 70 years, die, and leave it for the ungodly to spend; or you may send it ahead for eternal blessings. Hang on and lose it, or let go and retain it forever. It is up to you! (Those who supported our ministry can rejoice in the knowledge of the rewards they will have in heaven because

they helped us reach 2.5 million who made decisions for Christ through our television programs and world radio broadcasts in the languages of the people.)

May I share a heart-moving experience with you? When Rexella and I were in Hershey, Pennsylvania, a man sitting in a wheelchair asked to speak to us. When we reached the area where he sat, he began to weep, saying, “I am an invalid, as you can see. I have multiple sclerosis and osteoarthritis. The pain is great, and my pain medication costs me $100 per month.

Nevertheless, I have made a decision after much prayer. I want to give you the hundred dollars and do without this month’s medicine. It is the least I can do for Christ who suffered such agony for me. Please take the money and use it for His glory.” Rexella and I, both in tears, replied, “We cannot accept this gift.” Again weeping audibly, the man said, “Would you deprive me of a blessing? Take it for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.”

How many thousands who have a superabundance of material blessings — stocks, bonds, bank accounts, and other possessions — do nothing but “tip” God occasionally. Do you still think there will be no difference at the time rewards are given? Do you honestly believe that it will be the same for all? Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7). We are all going home

soon — either confident or ashamed. Will it be a time of victory or anguish, triumph or tears for YOU? It is not too late to make a new start.

Neglected hOliNessThere will also be tears in heaven because of neglected holiness. There is no doubt about it. God demands that His people live holy lives. For God hath not called us to uncleanness, but unto holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:7). Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling... (2 Timothy 1:9). Follow peace with all men, and holiness (Hebrews 12:14). Be ye holy, for I am holy (1 Peter 1:16). This means that we are not to fashion ourselves according to the former lusts (1 Peter 1:14); instead we are to abstain from fleshly lusts (1 Peter 2:11) and to put on Christ and not make any provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof (Romans 13:14).

How different from the lowly standards held by many carnal church members who constantly play “musical chairs” with the pagans of this world. These indifferent backsliders run with the world. Are they saved? God alone really knows! One thing is certain — if they are Christ’s, their double standards will be investigated. Have you ever known an addict? Perhaps this person wasted all of his or her resources on drugs, maybe even stole from family and friends, or got involved in crime or prostitution to feed his or her enslaving habit. It’s heartbreaking to see bright, decent people sink so low that they literally can’t help themselves. I’ve known drug- enslaved youngsters who went into rehabilitation programs and seemed to be all right for a while. But too often they ended up right back on drugs, more hopeless than before.

Is addiction killing America?

Besides alcohol and drugs, Americans struggle with countless other awful addictions. Millions are obsessed by gambling, uncontrolled spending, pornography, illicit sex, and other vicious vices. Millions more spend hour after hour surfing the Internet, playing video games, or sitting like zombies in front of TV sets watching inane and immoral programs. And in a land of abundance and excess, two-thirds of Americans are literally eating themselves to death, fatally addicted to food!

Is this addiction? I believe so. When these activities habitually and obsessively control people’s behavior, causing them to develop a compulsive need for whatever controls them, they are addicts! And these kinds of addictions are powerful ... and potentially deadly.

I’ll never forget a teenage girl I met on the street in downtown Toronto a few years ago. Jack and I were there to enjoy a few days of relaxation and rest and had gone out for a late-night walk. Summertime Toronto is a very safe and wonderful place to walk, with thousands of other people out enjoying the lights and sights of the city.

When we stopped at a corner to wait for the traffic light to change, this teenager came up to me and said, “I know you — I’ve seen you on television.” I greeted her, and we talked for a brief moment. I sensed from her appearance and facial expressions that she probably was part of the drug culture. She told me that sometimes when she couldn’t sleep at night, she went over to a store window with a display of television sets and watched our program, “Jack Van Impe Presents.”

Then she asked, “Where are you going, Rexella?”

I replied that Jack and I were on our way back to our hotel — that it was about bedtime for us. And I asked, “Are you going home tonight?”

Her answer burned into my very soul — ”I am home,” she said, “I live on the street!”

Just then the stoplight changed, and a flood of people surged off the sidewalk into the street, carrying us along with them. Somehow I lost my new friend in the crowd. I looked

for her when I got to the corner ... I even went back across the street trying to find her. But I never saw her again. The Lord knows where she is — where all of the lost and addicted souls are who are wandering in the dark.

I often think about that teenager and the sad look on her face whenever I pray about the problem of addicts. I hope she watched our telecast again and received words of hope and encouragement, and that the Lord has helped her get off the streets and free from her addiction.

Can we be addicted to good?According to the dictionary,

one of the definitions for addiction could have a positive connotation: “a compelling motivation.” I believe this is what the Apostle Paul was exhibiting when he declared in 1 Corinthians 9:16, Woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

He was saying, “I am compelled to share the Gospel. There is something about my calling that is so powerful that it is like an addiction. There is nothing else I can do but preach — I can’t help it, I must do this.” No wonder he wrote in Romans 1:15, I am ready to preach the gospel....

Paul’s calling must have been a “compelling motivation,” because he traveled all over the known world of his day preaching the Gospel, making converts, and planting churches. In some areas he was accepted, honored, and lauded, but in many other places he was met with opposition and persecution. No doubt there were plenty of times when he might have turned back had it not been for his addiction to the Gospel and carrying out the Great Commission.

Acts 14 relates how unbelievers sought to stone Paul and Barnabas in Iconium, but they escaped and went to preach at Lystra. Then his persecutors did stone Paul there and

left him for dead. But he managed to get up and go to Derbe, another city in the area, to preach. After teaching many people there, Paul headed right back to Lystra and Iconium to minister in the very places where people had tried to kill him.

Later Paul listed some of the persecution and trouble he faced in order to carry out his calling. He spoke of being in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; in journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness,

in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; in weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness (2 Corinthians 11:23-27).

Why would Paul take such risks and endure such pain and hardship? He was an addict to his calling. He had to go, even if it meant facing persecution. “I have to do it,” he said, “for woe is me if I preach not the gospel!”

Paying the priceThere is a price to be paid for

serving God. Those who are not sold out, soul and body, to their commitment to Christ and their calling to His commission may find the Christian lifestyle too arduous and difficult. Some have turned back and said, “This is not for me.”

But many, many others have given their all to the cause of Christ — they became addicts who gave themselves so completely to the Lord that they could do nothing else.

We have a great host of tremendous examples, all the way back to the first disciples. All of them became martyrs for the Lord — they were all murdered for their faith, every single one. And there are other great Christian champions in almost every era.

Some years ago, Jack and I were in Europe visiting England, where I was privileged to interview some noted church leaders in that country. During a visit to historic Westminster Abbey, I was particularly drawn to the burial site of David Livingstone, the renowned missionary to Africa.

Livingstone was born into a poor Scottish family and began working 14-hour days in the cotton mill at age 10. He went to night school for two hours after work each day, and would also prop books on his machine so he could study while working. Later he studied medicine and theology in Glasgow, and soon felt called to go to Africa as a missionary.

Asked why he would leave Britain to go to the “dark continent,” where he most likely would give his life and die, Livingstone said simply, “I am compelled by the love of Christ.”

For the next 30 years, he served God in Africa as a missionary preacher, physician, scientist, anti-slavery activist, and explorer. He trekked over and mapped an

amazing one-third of the continent. When Livingstone died on May 1, 1873, kneeling by his cot in prayer, his faithful African friends buried his heart at the foot of a giant tree, mummified his body, and carried it almost a thousand miles to the coast. A ship carried his remains to London, where he was buried in Westminster Abbey on April 18, 1874. That day was an official day of national mourning in England.

When I stood in that famous old church and read the memorial marker for Livingstone, I was impressed by both his total life sacrifice and his remarkable accomplishments for the Lord. “Compelled by the love of Christ,” he helped change the course of history in Africa and strike a powerful blow against slavery worldwide.

Buried next to Livingstone in Westminster Abbey is David’s brother, John. While David was preparing himself for a lifetime of missionary service, John’s ambition was to find a way to earn lots of money. Apparently, he was successful and became very wealthy. I believe he also became a famous cricket player, and enjoyed fame and adulation in addition to his affluent lifestyle.

None of these things were worthy of consideration when John’s memorial marker was inscribed. There is no mention of his wealth, fame, or position. The marker reads simply: “John Livingstone, The brother of David Livingstone.”

Why would Paul take such risks and endure such pain and hardship?

When Livingstone died on May 1, 1873, kneeling by his cot in prayer, his faithful African friends buried his heart at the foot of a giant tree, mummified his body, and carried it almost a thousand miles to the coast. A ship carried his remains to London, where he was buried in Westminster Abbey on April 18, 1874. That day was an official day of national mourning in England.

When I stood in that famous old church and read the memorial marker for Livingstone, I was impressed by both his total life sacrifice and his remarkable accomplishments for the Lord. “Compelled by the love of Christ,” he helped change the course of history in Africa and strike a powerful blow against slavery worldwide.

Buried next to Livingstone in Westminster Abbey is David’s brother, John. While David was preparing himself for a lifetime of missionary service, John’s ambition was to find a way to earn lots of money. Apparently, he was successful and became very wealthy. I believe he also became a famous cricket player, and enjoyed fame and adulation in addition to his affluent lifestyle.

None of these things were worthy of consideration when John’s memorial marker was inscribed. There is no mention of his wealth, fame, or position. The marker reads simply: “John Livingstone, The brother of David Livingstone.”

Why would Paul take such risks and endure such pain and hardship?


Isn’t that astounding? All of John’s riches and his privileged lifestyle amounted to nothing in the end. But David Livingstone’s addiction to the Gospel — being compelled by the love of Christ — will be recognized forever, both here and in heaven.

I live with an addict!For an example of a person

“addicted” to the work of the Lord, let me take you a little closer to home — in fact, to my home. I have had the privilege of spending a lifetime with my dear husband, Dr. Jack Van Impe. And from the beginning of our life together, I realized that he was absolutely an addict when it came to serving the Lord.

For many years, we traveled all over the world ministering in churches, later in large community auditoriums and stadiums, and doing everything possible to win souls to our Lord. In those days, we spent far more time on the road than we did at home. It took dedication, hard work, and an all-consuming passion for soul-winning and for giving people hope and comfort in a troubled world.

But that’s not all. There is absolutely no way for me to fully describe Jack’s determination — no, compulsion! — to memorize the Word of God. For weeks, months, years, he spent hours every day studying handwritten cards with Bible verses written on them. Not only did he memorize each verse and where it was found in the Bible, but also its subject. That’s why today, it’s not unusual to hear him quote a dozen verses from various parts of the Bible relating to a specific topic. It’s amazing, even to

me after all these years.

But I know what it cost him — hours and hours and hours of daily study to memorize them ... and ongoing hours and hours every year to review and refresh those verses in his mind, even today.

And that’s still not all. For many, many years now, Jack has averaged reading at least one book a day, studying the Bible and prophetic topics, as well as history, current events, and international politics. When he speaks so authoritatively on television, applying the Word of God to today’s news about events and world leaders, he knows what he is talking about. He is an absolute addict to his ministry!

By the way, Jack and I produce 52 television programs a year, in addition to the videos, books, magazines, and other ministry projects. The average TV sitcom does only 27 or 28 shows per year. We’ve been producing 52 programs annually for years; the total is now 1,560 programs. Is the extra work worth it? Absolutely! We get thousands of letters from people who say they prayed the prayer with Jack at the end of the program and accepted Christ into their hearts.

When we go out to a restaurant or a shopping center, we’re almost always bombarded by people who’ve seen us on TV and just want to say hello or share a brief testimony. One evening we were stopped 19 times on a short walk.

Our office has record of more than 2,500,000 precious people who have come to Christ through the outreaches of Jack Van Impe Ministries. At a time when others might be thinking of slowing down,

he still is addicted to helping others open their hearts and lives to our Lord! Full speed ahead!

Are you an addict?What about you? Even if you

are not called to a pulpit ministry, or to minister on television, or in a church setting, I believe God has given you a special gift to share with others. There is a way you can serve the Lord — in fact, there may well be people you can reach with the Gospel who might not respond to anyone else in the whole world.

Wherever God has placed you is your mission field! How can you be a witness to those in your world? Are you taking advantage of your unique opportunities to be used of the Lord?

What if you set a goal to share a testimony, a word of witness, or to stand up for what is right at least once each day? You wouldn’t have to be a preacher, or have dozens of Bible verses memorized, or be a trained counselor. What if you just shared what God has done in your life? If you are willing to do it, someone will listen!

Become an addict for good, for God ... driven by an all-consuming passion to do something — anything — for the Lord today.

At the time, I was incarcerated in a Texas Justice Center. I want to thank you for writing me back and for your prayers. I was being held on a false accusation. I was in jail for seven months, but never through those seven months did I lose faith one bit. I converted and never looked back.

Last Wednesday night, as I was kneeling and praying to the Lord Almighty, I asked Him to make me a free man so I could help my family and friends and many of the youth convert to Christianity. I told Him that regardless of what happens, I would serve Him all the days of my life.

Last Friday, I was released. I was so surprised because it all happened in a matter of minutes. God was answering my prayer right before my eyes. The jailer pulled me off to the side and said, “You’re getting released.” I couldn’t believe my ears. I kept asking him, “Are you sure it’s me? Are you sure you have the right guy?” And his reply was, “Yes, we don’t even know why you are here. We don’t have any charges against you.”

After seven months of praise and worship and faith in God, He answered me. I had left it all in God’s hands and knew it was all His timing. Sure enough, I was right.

He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. To this day, I am speechless and overwhelmed, but I know this was His work and His way of getting my attention before His coming.

I want to thank you for your precious words of inspiration and hope. I thank the Lord for your being there when I needed someone’s help to maintain, because you and your wife are a big key to my converting. For that I am eternally grateful for you and your ministry.

Hidden Imam, who according to Shi’ite belief went into hiding in the 10th century and will reappear to bring justice to Earth.

‘God willing, with the manifestation of Imam Mehdi, Ahmadinejad will also return and work for the establishment of pure Islam,’ spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by Iranian news agencies.

Ahmadinejad and his close aides have been criticized in Iran over their repeated references to Mahdi and signs of his imminent coming.

Ahmadinejad came under fire in March for saying that former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will be resurrected alongside Jesus and the Hidden Imam....” (This is a deadly headline. Past President Ahmadinejad is now looking for Islam’s messiah, Mahdi. In past headlines this former president stated “I must kill all Jews before my messiah comes.” Let’s hope and pray that he can’t find him in order to avoid a global tragedy. However, no nation or person will rid the world of God’s Chosen People — Deuteronomy 7:7-8 — because Yahweh, our God, has given Israel an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off — Isaiah 56:5.)

CHINA AND RUSSIA CONDUCT JOINT NAVAL DRILL

BBC News reports: “China and Russia are beginning joint naval drills which Beijing has described as the country’s largest with a foreign partner.

The drills, which are taking place in the Sea of Japan, last from 5-12 July.

People’s Liberation Army chief

Gen Fang Fenghui said the drills did not ‘target any third parties,’ but aimed to deepen ties with Russia.

However they come amid tensions with regional neighbours including Japan and the Philippines over maritime disputes.

China has overlapping claims with Tokyo and Manila in the East China and South China Sea respectively — something which has led to a marked deterioration in ties in recent years as China has pressed its claim more assertively.

Last month the US and Japanese navies held joint exercises off San Diego....” (China and Russia become headlines in the final war, Armageddon — Revelation 16:16. Liberty reports: “An Iranian government spokesman has said that outgoing President Mahmud Ahmadinejad will return with the

Hidden Imam, who according to Shi’ite belief went into hiding in the 10th century and will reappear to bring justice to Earth.

‘God willing, with the manifestation of Imam Mehdi, Ahmadinejad will also return and work for the establishment of pure Islam,’ spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by Iranian news agencies.

Ahmadinejad and his close aides have been criticized in Iran over their repeated references to Mahdi and signs of his imminent coming.

Ahmadinejad came under fire in March for saying that former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will be resurrected alongside Jesus and the Hidden Imam....” (This is a deadly headline. Past President Ahmadinejad is now looking for Islam’s messiah, Mahdi. In past headlines this former president stated “I must kill all Jews before my messiah comes.” Let’s hope and pray that he can’t find him in order to avoid a global tragedy. CHINA AND RUSSIA CONDUCT JOINT NAVAL DRILL

BBC News reports: “China and Russia are beginning joint naval drills which Beijing has described as the country’s largest with a foreign partner.

The drills, which are taking place in the Sea of Japan, last from 5-12 July.

Gen Fang Fenghui said the drills did not ‘target any third parties,’ but aimed to deepen ties with Russia.

However they come amid tensions with regional neighbours including Japan and the Philippines over maritime disputes.

China has overlapping claims with Tokyo and Manila in the East China and South China Sea respectively — something which has led to a marked deterioration in ties in recent years as China has pressed its claim more assertively.
