by all druggists 0 ioIi < J t t RICHARD REED Mr Richard Reed aged about fifty years died at 11 oclock this morn ¬ ing at his home in the southeastern- part of the city from congestion Mr Reed had been in very poor health for several years but until very recently- had been able to be up and out most of the time- r Reed was from Paducah Ky coming to Ocala to reside about five years ago He was a well educated- and deeply read man and was much liked and highly respected by all who knew him He was very retiring and modest but to those who knew him his friendship was highly valued He was formerly in the mercantile busi- ness ¬ but for several years pis health had not permitted of his engaging in any active business- Mr Reed was married about six years ago to Miss Minnie Bailey of this city a daughter of Mr and Mrs John E Bailey The friends of the family and the management of the Star extend their heartfelt sympa- thy ¬ to the bereaved widow Messrs Mclver MacKay have charge of the funeral arrangements SUCH MEN HELP A CITY For many years in fact longer than I most of the present residents can re ¬ I member the block of land In the rear of the H B Masters store and known- as I Rotten Row was a disgrace and an eye sore and formerly was a nest of I dives and a harbor for evil deeds Sev- eral ¬ years ago part of the property burned down Dr C R T3 dings soon afterwards bought the north halt of the block and put up some good busi- ness ¬ property and a long tenement house built in a neat style with good material Later on he bought the south half of the block and has had a cement sidewalk laid and Is building a 40x40 business house on the southwest corner This building wilt be two stories high and on the second floor will be flats for colored tenants Dr Tydings will build another building east of this as soon as the present one under construction is completed and then erect four small stores two stories high but only twenty feet deep be ¬ tween and connecting them This up ¬ per story will be all in flats and con- nected ¬ yet all separate apartments It will be one large colored tenement house The stores both large and small were nearly all rented by the J time the contract was let On the southeast corner of the block and ex ¬ tending west to these wooden struc- tures ¬ Dr Tydings will soon build a large twostory double brick block He will also build another or two more long tenement cottages similar to the one built some time since on the north- west ¬ corner of the block which will utilize the entire space and bring in a handsome rental when all arc com- Mr Richard Reed aged about fiftyyears died at 11 oclock this morn¬

ing at his home in the southeastern-part of the city from congestion MrReed had been in very poor health forseveral years but until very recently-had been able to be up and out mostof the time-

r Reed was from Paducah Kycoming to Ocala to reside about fiveyears ago He was a well educated-and deeply read man and was muchliked and highly respected by all whoknew him He was very retiring andmodest but to those who knew himhis friendship was highly valued Hewas formerly in the mercantile busi-ness

but for several years pis healthhad not permitted of his engaging inany active business-

Mr Reed was married about sixyears ago to Miss Minnie Bailey ofthis city a daughter of Mr and MrsJohn E Bailey The friends of thefamily and the management of theStar extend their heartfelt sympa-thy
