Go back through all of your 2nd quarter journal entries. [Should be about 5 or 6 plus the 3 this week…. See old

Ppts if you are missing some.] Pull them out and staple them together. Choose your very best one. REWRITE ONLY this one.

Rewrite it: Fix grammar errors, add to it with more descriptive writing, improve your sentence pattern varieties by using I,cI, I;I, D,I, ID, listing sentences, etc….

Restate the question/topic in your first sentence Increase the length of the entry to a minimum of 8-10

sentences using descriptive writing. Use your last sentence to sum up the overall topic of

your entry.

Turn in your stapled packet of journals from 2nd quarter

Turn in the ONE rewritten journal [ typed or handwritten ] which you chose to do.

Must be in the tray within the first 5 minutes of class to be considered “on-time.”

Ernesto Londoño, Foreign Aff airsErnesto Londoño joined the editorial board of The

Times in September 2014. Mr. Londoño previously worked at The Washington Post, where he covered the Pentagon and served as a foreign correspondent. From 2008 to 2012, Mr. Londoño reported on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the Arab uprisings from Baghdad, Cairo and Kabul. Earlier in his career, Mr. Londoño worked on the local news desks at The Dallas Morning News and The Washington Post. Mr. Londoño was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, and moved to the United States in 1999 for college. He studied journalism and Latin American studies at the University of Miami.

Ernesto Londoño Joins The New York Times Editorial Board

Londoño is joining the editorial board of The New York Times, editorial page editor Andy Rosenthal announced in a newsroom email this afternoon. In his new role, Mr. Londoño, who covered the wars in

Iraq and Afghanistan and the Arab Spring for the Post, will mainly write about foreign affairs, as well as “lots of other stuff.”

“I’m excited to soon join @nytopinion as an editorial writer covering foreign affairs; deeply sad to leave…”

“Whether from Washington or overseas, Ernesto has time and again demonstrated an uncanny ability to see stories where the competition did not

and to execute those stories with intelligence and grace,” The Washington Post said in a newsroom email announcing

Mr. Londoño’s departure. “Through it all, he has distinguished himself as an exemplary journalist and an always generous colleague.”
