Even the Active Day short cab version

the driver’s seat. A practical central space is

storage console and desk. On request it can

even be fitted with a third seat.

The steering wheel is adjusted by means of

buttons on the floor and allows all drivers to find

their ideal seat height and backrest angle

settings.

Driving quality is another of the strong

points that makes Trakker your ideal part-

ner for tough jobs. All cab versions allow

drivers of any stature to find their ideal

driving position, thanks to an adjustable

steering wheel and a pneumatic seat that

adapts to driver’s weight, slides backwards

and forwards and is adjustable for height

and rake.

All functions are clearly displayed on

the instrument panel, and all controls

are plainly marked and easily accessible

to ensure maximum driving safety. The

controls for the decompression and

hydraulic INTARDER engine brakes, radio

and cruise controls are ergonomically

positioned where they can be operated

without the driver needing to take his

hands off the wheel. The electric window

controls are mounted in the door armrest

along with the demisting controls. The

controls for the optional electric door

mirrors are also mounted in the same

practical position.

The electronic digital tachograph is

located over the windscreen, along with

the audio system. Audio controls are

duplicated on the steering wheel with

stations displayed on the instrument panel

to minimise driver distraction.

The bunk bed consists of three lift-up sections. The central section is 82 cm wide and turns into a practical storage compartment.

is fi nished in soft-touch, scratch-proof

material. The cab interior stands out for

8 and 13 litre versions covering a power

range from 310 to 500 HP. Cursor engines

boast a 6 cylinder in-line configuration with

overhead cams and rear camshaft drive for

compact dimensions, fewer components

and – most importantly – high structural

rigidity thanks to a monobloc head and a

lower cylinder block that integrates all seven

crank journals in one part. The result is

reduced vibration, less noise and smoother

running under all conditions, to be benefit

driving comfort and engine life. Everything

about Cursor engines has been designed

for maximum efficiency: aluminium crown

pistons mean improved heat dispersion; low

roughness liners and special piston rings

VGT

The Cursor engines of the Trakker Active

Time and Active Day are the only VGT

(variable geometry turbine) engines in the

heavy transport world (excluding the

310 HP Cursor 8 and 410 HP Cursor 13).

VGT turbine technology makes a major

contribution to engine performance and

offers superb response and better accel-

eration.

An electronic control unit modifies the

geometry of the turbine to suit engine

speed. Coaxial movement of the turbine

impeller controls the volume of incoming

exhaust gases to maintain constant speed

and increase output pressure, giving better

engine power and torque. VGT technology

also improves the performance of the

Iveco Turbo Brake (ITB).

CEB

Combined Engine Brake (fitted to the

Cursor 13 from 410 HP on) is a powerful

engine brake system that combines the

effects of decompression and brake

torque.

A butterfly valve on the exhaust manifold

creates back pressure to reduce engine

speed and boost engine braking.

The Cursor 8 is a Euro 5, 6-cylinder in-line engine of 7,790 cc, and is available in three

power ratings (310 HP with conventional turbocharger, and 330 and 360 HP with variable

geometry turbine). The 310 HP version is ideal for light duty site work and building

material transport. The 330 HP version is the perfect choice for municipal operations

and three sided tippers.

CURSOR 13

The Cursor 13 is the engine you need for tough applications, harsh environments and

challenging conditions.

It comes in 450 and 500 HP versions, both delivering high torque at low revs. The new

410 HP version incorporates a turbo waste gate for higher torque, better acceleration and

improved driveability. The Cursor 13 is a 12,880 cc, 6 cylinder in-line engine and conforms

to Euro 5 emission standards.

to abolish all limits on what you can or

Iveco has used the latest research and

technology to develop innovative solutions

for reducing fuel consumption and impact

on the environment. All Cursor engines

are compliant with Enhanced Environmen-

tally friendly Vehicles (EEV) standard and

are therefore even more ecological that

Euro 5 engines. Trakker also uses SCR

technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction)

to treat exhaust gases.

SCR requires high efficiency engines and

catalytic converters integrated in the

silencer in place of conventional silencer

technology. A special additive (AdBlue)

is injected upstream from the catalytic

converter by an electronically controlled

dosing system.

REDUCED EMISSIONS, REDUCED

FUEL CONSUMPTION

The SCR system is designed to last for

the entire life of the vehicle. It does away

with the need for a diesel particulate filter,

guarantees reduced emissions, requires

minimal maintenance and contributes to

improving vehicle productivity. In short,

lower emissions, lower fuel consumption.

The system delivers higher power and

higher torque for the same engine displace-

ment; therefore, reduced weight, improved

fuel consumption thanks to higher injection

pressures, lower energy absorption from

heat dispersion, fewer oil changes and

EUROTRONIC AUTOMATED

TRANSMISSIONS

In addition to a choice of conventional

manual transmissions, Trakker is also avail-

able with high-tech Eurotronic automated

transmission and with a steering column

gearshift lever for the ultimate in driving

ergonomics. These transmissions can be

used in fully automatic or semi-automatic

mode to suit driving conditions.

The Eurotronic ZF 12 and Eurotronic

16 speed transmissions incorporate

electronic clutch control for superb driving

comfort. Electronic clutch control also

delivers various other advantages: auto-

matic logic selects the most economical

gear ratio, protects the gearbox against

overspeed and reduces clutch wear, fuel

consumption and noise. Eurotronic trans-

missions ensure that the engine always

operates within its most economical speed

range. By improving safety and driveability,

they also let you concentrate fully on the

road ahead.

MECHANICAL TRANSMISSIONS

The transmissions of Trakker Active Time

and Active Day all off er superb ergonomics

and high performance. Thanks to their

innovative and fl exible technical characteris-

tics, these transmissions let you choose the

most suitable solution for your needs and

for those of your vehicle.

Trakker can be equipped with 9 or 16

speed manual gearboxes. The revolutionary

16 speed Ecosplit 4 ZF gearbox incorpo-

rates a servo-shift for faster, more precise

gear selection and a more relaxed, safer

drive.

Manual transmissions are perfect for

typical Trakker missions, are extremely

reliable, and help raise the productivity and

effi ciency of your vehicle while lowering its

maintenance costs.


The gear shift lever is integrated in the steering column for better ergonomics and greater safety. The drive (D), rever-se (R) and neutral (N) selection buttons are located on the dashboard.

Trakker’s truly unstoppable nature proves

itself whenever you come to extreme

slopes with a full load. Conditions like this

present a tough test indeed, but Trakker

always comes out on top.

The decompression brake of Trakker’s

Cursor engines, combined with its variable

geometry turbine or CEB (Combined

Engine Brake) limits vehicle speed and

reduces the need to use the service brakes,

thus minimising brake wear. Trakker is

equipped with integrated control of all its

braking systems. Rear wheel drive versions

are fi tted with front disc brakes that are

electronically controlled by the ABS and

EBL systems (to optimise braking force

according to load). ASR (anti-slip regula-

tion) is also available on request.

The integrated brake control system uses

special logic to regulate braking: the engine

brake and ZF INTARDER are activated

automatically to minimise service brake

wear and to reduce speed to suit driving

conditions.

This highly effi cient braking system is

backed up by rigid front axles and by a

range of rear axles off ering diff erent ratios

to provide the perfect confi guration for all

site transport needs.

High ratios are available for easier missions

and low ratios for tougher missions and

steeper slopes.

The service braking system uses disc brakes at the front and duo-duplex drum brakes on the rear axles. All wheel drive versions are fitted with duo-duplex drum brakes on all wheels.


Trakker is equipped with a revolutionary, third generation INTARDER that delivers excellent engine braking. The unit is particularly light to reduce overall weight and optimise fuel consumption.
