Bad smash forJanis, Michael

■ Janis and Michael Holloway ex-perienced a bad car smash in the Vic-torian high country in early January.

Their 4WD vehicle came of sec-ond best as they negotiated a steeproad on their annual tour of the area.

Both sustained minor injuries.

Centenary dinner■ The Lodge will be participating inthe Ivanhoe Grammar School cente-nary. Tickets are booked for the OldIvanhoe Grammarians gala dinner tobe held at Buckley Hall on March 21.Attending will be Max and Val Fraser,Ash and Fleur Long, Damian Byrnewith Enid Dodemaide.

Buckley clan here■ The founder of Ivanhoe Gram-mar School, the Rev. SydneyBuckley, was active as a Freemasonsince 1924.

He was Chaplain at the LodgeConsecration in July 1964, and re-mained in that position for manyyears prior to his death in 1964.

Our Lodge is fortunate to have hisdaughter, Mary Buckley, with ustonight. Other Buickley clan mem-bers include Helen Stuckey, AllanDavey, Caroline Davey andMichael Davey.

Toys For Tots■ Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodgehad another successful collection atits December meeting for the ToysFor Tots charity run by the City ofBanyule.

Members donated many goodsfor under-privileged boys and girlsin the local Banyule municipality.

The Lodge makes this donationannually.

■ It is only eight weeks to Good Fri-day (April 3) when Ivanhoe Gram-marians Lodge members will againcollect for the Royaql Children’s Hos-pital Appeal.

In the past, collectors have includedMichael Holloway, Simon Browning,Rahim Samat and Damian Byrne.

Extra collectors are needed this yearas Freemasons Victoria is expandingits eforts to support the Uncle Bobsorganisation with collections.

Wayne Motton, ourfSenior Warden, is embarking on atour of Vietnam, as part of afundraising effort for the EpworthHospital, where he underwent life-saving surgery several years ago.■ With us tonight is GabrielleForman, Communications Man-ager of Freemasons Victoria. Gabhas recently passed her universitystudies, and is planning to embarkon a Japan trek next summer as partof a fundraiser, also for theEpworth. Let’s get behind Gab’sefforts.■ Our best wishes to Bob and BettyBreame. ●●●●● Buckley’s Hope is thenewly released history of theIvanhoe Grammarians Lodge

■ A new 156-page book has beenpublished about the Ivanhoe Gram-marians Lodge, and is beinglaunched at tonight’s meeting.

The book goes back to theLodge’s consecration on July 2,1946, and details the activities ofeach of the 748 meetings held over69 years.

The book lists the Masonic careerof each of the 308 members. Thereare more than 2000 references in theindex. There are 50 illustrations in thebook.

Copies are available for $20 each.No Lodge funds have been used inthe publication. Profits will be do-nated to Lodge funds.
