If Criminal Charges are brought against you within the course and scope of employment, I.U.P.A.’s Legal Defense Fund will provide you with an experienced Criminal Attorney from the outset of the investigation through the completion of trail. CIVIL: Act or omission within the scope of employment If Civil Lawsuits are brought against you within the course and scope of employment, you will be provided an Attorney by I.U.P.A.’s Legal Defense Fund:

• If your employer refuses to represent you for an act or omission within the scope of employment.

• If there is a legal conflict of interest between you and your employer. • If you are experiencing inadequate representation by your employer. • If there is a considerable likelihood that punitive damages could be awarded against you. • Conflict Coverage: If there is a legal conflict between members, then each member receives

separate counsel.

• “Police Officer charged with 2nd

degree murder and child endangerment when he shot and killed a woman coming at him in a vehicle. Not guilty of both counts by the jury. LDF provided among other assistance, a media consultant, pathologist, police psychologist, investigators, and a focus group.” Defense Costs paid by the I.U.P.A. Legal Defense Fund: about $373,000.

Officers Relief Fund Your local law enforcement officers face disasters every day and are the first on the scene to protect and save lives – often while risking their own. We are here to assist law enforcement officers and their families when tragedy strikes.

The Police and Troopers Relief Foundation (PTRF) is a special program within the Law Enforcement Officers Relief Fund (LEORF), established by the International Union of Police Associations. The PTRF/LEORF was created to provide specialized service dedicated to the specific needs of law enforcement officers around the country.

The reason we are able to provide support for law enforcement officers and their families is because of you and your financial support.
