Endometriosis is a benign disease defined by the presence of endometrial glands & stroma outside the uterus, associated with both pelvic pain & infertility.The disease is prone to progression & recurrence & hence difficult to treat.

Fibroids or leiomyoma are the commonest benign tumors of myometrium of the uterus and cause abnormal uterine bleeding and form large pelvic masses causing infertility. They have to be treated surgically or medically..

Hydrosalpinx is a condition that occurs when the fallopian tube is blocked and fills up with clear fluid next to the ovary. The blocked tubes gives a characteristic sausage – like or retort like shape.

Ectopic pregnancy is a condition where the embryo implants outside the uterus, in the tubes and uncommonly it can implant even in the ovary, abdomen, cervix, liver or cornua of the uterus. It can be life threatening if it ruptures & has to be dealt with immediate laparoscopic surgery.

It is a benign condition associated with the formation of cysts in the ovary, >3cms in diameter. These form due to continuous FSH stimulation of follicles with failure of ovulation.

PCOD is a hormonal condition characterized by presence of oligomenorrhoea (irregular periods), ultrasound appearance of polycystic ovaries & presence of hirsuitism (unwanted hair). It is associated with infertility and weight gain. Ovarian drilling followed by ovulation induction gives good results.

Tubal cannulation is a rewarding surgery for cornual blocks of the uterus. It is done by Novy's Cook cannulation system hysteroscopically with concomitant laparoscopy with the success rate of 75-85% in skilled hands.

Uterus septum is a congenital malformation where the uterine cavity is partitioned by a longitudinal septum. Hysteroscopic septal ablation is the treatment of choice.

A varicocele is a collection of widened veins, like varicose veins, that occurs on the outside of a testicle. This is thought to lower the sperm count and affect sperm quality.Treatment is microsurgical operation under magnification.

Hysteroscopy is a procedure that to look inside the uterus in order to diagnose and treat causes of bleeding or infertility . The procedure can be either diagnostic or operative. The operative procedures for adhesions, polyps, fibroids, septum or biopsy have no other substitute.

Intramural fibroids is the commonest noncancerous tumor of the uterus which occurs in women of reproductive age group. Depending on the location of the tumor they are classified as intramural, submucosal or subserosal. An intramural fibroid >4cms in diameter should be removed laparoscopically.
