It’s Time to Get Real….Over the past two weeks we have explored short stories from the Realism genre. These stories often end devastatingly. Now, you will be tasked with turning one of these tales into a Romantic yarn.

Getting Real….Using your notes on Romanticism, you will re-imagine one of these stories in a way that embodies its conventions. For example, instead of Farquhar dying on Owl Creek Bridge, he is saved by a falcon who returns him to his home.

The materialYou will choose from one of the following works:

Kate Chopin’s The Story of an Hour

Kate Chopin’s A Pair of Silk Stockings

Stephen Crane’s Mystery of Heroism

Bierce’s Owl Creek Bridge (NOT with falcons!)

Pick Your Poison:You can re-imagine the story in the following ways:

-Written story (2-3 page minimum)-Comic book (18 frames)-Short film (2-3minutes)-Animation (1-2 minutes)-Original song, rap (1-2 minutes)

*Written proposal (including name, story title, brief description) is due No Later than start of class on Friday September 30th

Other things:-Whatever form you choose will require grammatically correct written material (ie: script, lyrics, etc)…..this is still English class!
