It’s Jumuah and that’s the adhan…

Do you know why Jumuah is a special day for Muslims?

and learn a little about Jumuah and how to prepare for the Jumuah prayer,

a very important part of the day…

The word Jumuah

comes from a wordwhich means

Allah knows best why He chose Friday as this day of gathering. . .

Some say that it is because this was the day that creation was finished…..*

Whatever the reason may be, there are some very important events that have happened or will happen

on a Jumuah…

Allah created Adam, the first man,on a Jumuah…

Adam was placed in Jannah (Paradise) on a Friday….

(And was also taken out of Jannah on a Friday…)

The Day of Judgment will be on a Friday…

There is an hour on Jumuah where “no faithful servant asks Allah for something, but Allah will give him what he asked for…”

Jewish people take Saturdayas their holy day . . .

Christians take Sundayas their holy day . . .

These previous nations were “informed about Friday” but chose different days.

Abu Hurayrah (radia Allahu anhu) narrated that the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

“We (Muslims) are the last (to come) but the first on the Day of Resurrection, though the former nations were given the Scriptures before us. And this was their day (Friday) the celebration of which was made compulsory for them, but they differed about it. So, Allah gave us guidance to it, and all other people are coming after us: the Jews tomorrow and the

Christians the day after tomorrow. “

Why do we gather on Jumuah?

We gather together on Jumuah to worship Allah.

We listen to a khutbah (speech) given by the Imam to remind us of Allah and about our worship to Him

(Allah).

How do we know that Jumuah is the day for this gathering?

O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for the Salât on Friday (Jumuah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allâh and Salât

and leave off business.. That is better for you if you did but know!

62:9

Allah tells us in the Quraan……

As we are going to the masjid to pray on Jumuah, we know that we must have wudhu …

But there are other special preparations that we should make for Jumuah……

It is recommended on Jumuah that we……

1. Make Ghusl (take a bath)

2. Wear our best clothes

3. Apply perfume (oil)

4. Use miswak (a tooth stick)

5. Leave the house early

6. Sit close to the Imam

When you are finished getting ready for Jumuah, make your way to the masjid…

(Whoever performs Ghusl on the day of Jumu`ah,

leaves early, walking not riding,

and sits close to the Imamand listens without talking,

will earn the reward of fasting and performing standing (in prayer)

for an entire year for every step he takes.) (Muslim, Bukhari)

We must leave off from

buying and selling…

O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salât on Friday,

come to the remembrance of Allâhand leave off business.

That is better for you if you did but know!

At the masjid,

the Imam will give two khutbahs (speeches)

reminding us about our worship to Allah…

Then we pray a prayer of two rakaat…..

When the prayer is over, we may go back to our usual business . .

Then when the Salât is ended, you may disperse through the land,

and seek the bounty of Allâh, and remember Allâh much, that you may be successful.
