There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of reasons why you should become a Blue Knight - academic reasons, fun reasons, future reasons. Here are a few. UU is a college of distinction. We offer 30 undergraduate and graduate programs. You will start the year with Welcome Weekend, have great out-of-classroom experiences, and graduate in four years. But the number one reason is that you will succeed. You’ll get an education that will give you confidence in future quests. There are plenty of pages to explore here, but let us just say this: be prepared for the journey of your life! Once you become a Blue Knight, life will never be the same. FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCEWe’ve got it figured out. As a freshman, you have many questions and a lot to explore. These programs will guide you through your first year.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION - A one-day required event that prepares you for UU. We’ll cover all the services available, share first-year tips, and acquaint you with life at UU. You’ll also meet with your academic advisor, register for classes, and get your student I.D. If you have questions, this will be the time to raise that hand.

WELCOME WEEKEND - Before classes begin, move in early, get settled, connect with faculty and staff, make new friends, and learn to navigate the campus and the City of Urbana.

UNIVERSITY SEMINAR - This course gives first-year students an opportunity to make the academic and social transition to UU. This unique seminar is facilitated by a UU faculty member and an upper-level student. They’ll help you explore all there is to know about UU and the surrounding Urbana community.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT We offer all the support systems you need to succeed - great library resources, mentoring opportunities, student success center, and advising to keep you on track.

Still exploring majors and careers? Your academic advisor will help you explore options so you can declare your major by sophomore year.

CAREER SERVICES To help you get ready for your career, take advantage of our internships and co-ops, build your skills with an on-campus job, learn to polish your resume, and attend career fairs. It’s all here to help you succeed.

and join the band every chance we get. You will see faculty/staff

Complete an online application anytime at www.urbana.edu/admissions. UU welcomes applications anytime after the completion of a student’s junior year. Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis.
