Leaving the city behind, the scenery changes to views of rice paddies, villagers drying noodles by the side of the road and other scenes typical to southern Vietnam. Arrive and start the visit of the famous Cu Chi Tunnels which consist of an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters (Viet Cong) during both the French and American wars. Start the visit with the Ben Dinh or Ben Duoc sections of the tunnel. Here you can imagine what it was like to be a guerrilla complete with Russian Carbine rifles and AK 47's on display. Return to Ho Chi Minh City for Lunch. This afternoon, our tour includes the War Museum, The Reunification Hall, formerly known as the Presidential Palace it was towards this modern building that North Vietnamese tanks seized on the morning of April 30 1975, as Saigon fell. This fascinating building is filled with history still fresh in the minds of many. Continue to the Old Post Office, the Notre Dame Cathedral. The last stop is Ben Thanh - the central market for the city and one of its liveliest and most colorful areas. Itinerary

DAY 02 Breakfast at the hotel

Depart Ho Chi Minh City in the morning for the drive to Cu Chi district. DAY 03 Breakfast at the hotel Depart for the 2.5-hour drive to Cai Be, deep in the Mekong Delta. The tour begins with a visit of the small but quaint Cai Be floating market, followed by a visit to some home factories that produce rice paste, rice popcorn and coconut candy. Proceed to evergreen islands among the Mekong River through a large network of meandering tributaries, crisscrossed with countless arroyos. Following take a 10-minute walk through a local village and fruit gardens before coming to a preserved 'Mandarin' house. Built centuries ago, at least four generations of the same family have lived here. The owner of the house will serve you an appetizing Vietnamese Lunch. Take a stroll through the family's fruit orchard before continuing to Tan Phong Island where you will take a local rowing boat through the canals before returning to Cai Be. Following head back to Saigon Dinner at a local restaurant Overnight stay at the hotel

DAY 05 Breakfast at the hotel This morning depart your hotel for the Temple of Literature. In 1076 Quoc Tu Giam - Vietnam's first university, also referred to as Van Mieu, was established within a temple to educate Vietnam's royalty, mandarins and members of the elite. The university functioned for an incredible 700 years and its gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a fascinating glimpse into Vietnam’s past. The One Pillar Pagoda, founded by King Ly Thai To in 1049 will be visited next. This structure is one of Vietnam’s most iconic temples. Close by is the mausoleum of the historic figure and father of modern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh (viewed from outside; closed Mon and Fri and from Oct-Nov) and the former presidents house on stilts where he lived from 1958 to 1969, his former home illustrates the modesty of this Vietnamese revolutionary. Continue to picturesque West Lake and the sixth century Tran Quoc Buddhist Pagoda. From here transfer (or stroll along the lakeside) 700meters to the nearby Taoist temple of Quan Thanh which is dedicated to Tran Vu, one of the principal deities in Taoism. (Cont…)

DAY 04 Breakfast at the hotel. Morning at Leisure. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, transfer to the airport for flight to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi, you will be welcomed by your guide and transfer to your hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 07 Early risers enjoy a morning view of Halong Bay’s mountainous landscapes with a cup of fresh coffee, tea and fresh fruit. Cruise to the Bai Tho Mountain in the other beautiful Bai Tu Long Bay then your junk begins cruising back to the harbour. A buffet Brunch is served before disembarking at the harbour. Upon disembarkation, your guide and driver will meet you for the transfer back to Hanoi Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel

Lunch at a local restaurant After lunch visit the fascinating Ethnology Museum, which is both a research centre and a public museum exhibiting the ethnic groups of Vietnam. At the end of the afternoon visit Hanoi’s Old Quarter also known as the ‘36 streets’. Take a walking tour through charming Hang Be Market and around Hoan Kiem Lake. This bustling area of narrow streets and alleys is home to literally thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. It's a great place to explore with plenty of photo opportunities all around you. Finish the day with a Water Puppet show. DAY 06 Breakfast at the hotel Your guide and driver will meet you at hotel for an early departure to Halong. The 3.5 hours journey takes you through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta, observe everyday life of Vietnamese Villages as you see the villagers work the local rice fields, take live pigs to market on bicycles and plough the fields with their large water buffaloes. Arrive in Halong and board a traditional sailing junk. A welcome drink will be served as the boat leaves the harbour, check in your cabin then enjoy a delightful fresh seafood lunch served while your cruise through the limestone cliffs and emerald waters of Halong Bay, giving you the opportunity to take in the stunning scenery of this UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site. After lunch, your cruise takes you to the inside of magical landscape of Dinh Huong island, Ga Choi Island, Dog Island, Binh Phong mountain, Sung Sot Cave, round over Titov Beach. Enjoy sunset on the top of the Titov mountain or you take a bamboo row boat to discover a water tunnels with many coral reefs in a scenic lagoon. Board the Junk Ship. Dinner is served on board with fresh seafood, salads, and fruits. Overnight stay on the Junk Ship.

DAY 08 Breakfast at the hotel Timely transfer to the airport for the departure flight to Colombo. Arrive in Colombo.
