Each company, just as every person, is occupy-ing a certain place in its society and its country.

ITERA Latvia is the first and only private com-pany in two of the three Baltic countries – Esto-nia and Latvia, which delivers to their consumers one of the major energy resources - natural gas.

This company is one of the largest investors in Latvian gas sector, which allows to keep not only flexible gas price and gas supply policy, but also safe and predictable national gas sup-ply cyclical dynamics.

Currently ITERA Latvia delivers about one-quarter of the required gas quantity for the Lat-vian Republic, during the past few years ITERA Latvia have supplied its consumers with more than 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas and as a private commercial entity can provide the

necessary gas volumes in terms, which are con-cessional and preferential to consumers.

From 2001 regular gas supply is provided also to Estonia.

The company’s strategic objective is energy independent and environmentally safe Latvia, and to bring the country closer to this impor-tant objective, the company promotes modern technologies in Latvian energy sector, related to use of natural gas.

At the same time the company’s ITERA Latvia interest is promotion and implementation of the latest and most advanced gas technologies in the other Baltic countries.

ITERA Latvia is the JSC Latvian Gas and JSC Eesti Gaas shareholder, and this fact opens up opportunities for closer and wider cooperation with major gas operators in the Baltic gas mar-kets and allows to realize an advantageous co-operation with the gas consumers in the Baltic Sea region.

In collaboration with major companies in the Baltic - the region’s economic leaders, the company is actively participating in develop-ment and acquisition of different investment projects, which are important for the states economy.

ITERA Latvia is also included in the list of Lat-vian companies - the major supporters of na-tional culture, science, education and sports; the same essential segment of company’s pa-tronage activity is dedicated to solving of envi-ronmental and ecological problems.

Being engaged in such activities, the compa-ny directly - with a specific, reasoned action, is showing its concerns about the country, society and environment where it exists.

public role in positive affecting the company’s im-age in public perception is also growing.

ITERA Latvia appreciates the importance of qual-ity education and the importance of getting such education in Latvia, that’s why the company has engaged in various education-developing projects.

In cooperation with the Latvian Education Fund target programme for Education, science and cul-ture, every year, starting already in the 1999, the company awards 4 students of Landscape archi-tecture and planning faculty of Latvian Agricultural University with scholarships.

During the past seven years, ITERA Latvia scholar-ships were received by 52 best and having the most impressive prospects LLU students - prospective landscape architects and designers, who care about the image of green and clean Latvia.

Conversely, in cooperation with the Latvian Acad-emy of Sciences and Latvian Education Fund target programme for Education, science and culture, an-other good tradition was established in 2000 - the annual presentation of ITERA Latvia medals and prizes of our country’s foremost and prominent sci-entists.

Among the medals and prize winners there are scientists engaged in environmental protection and natural sciences, as well as those who have made lasting, significant contribution to the development of Latvian science in general.

During the past years 20 greatest Latvian academ-ic minds received ITERA Latvia medals and prizes.

Company ITERA Latvia, in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences of Latvia, the Latvian Educa-tion Fund special purpose programs for Education, Science and Culture and the Riga City Council repre-sentatives is successfully implementing a long-term programme, which goal is the perpetuating the

memory of the outstanding scientists who lived and worked in Riga.

With the company’s financial and ideologi-cal support a monument to the outstanding chemist, four-time Nobel Prize winner Paul Walden was manufactured and constructed in Riga. Monuments were also built to commemo-rate such world’s famous scientists, whose lives and activities are inextricably connected to the name of Riga, like the universe explorer Freder-ick Zander and chemist Voldemars Fisher.

For the support, given to Latvian science de-velopment, the president of LLC ITERA Latvia Mr Savickis has been awarded with the name of „the Honor philanthropist of Latvian Academy of Sciences”.

Culture is the spiritual basis of existence of each nation, but it can not exist without finan-cial support. In cooperation with the Latvian Culture Foundation, Latgale Culture Fund, the Latvian Song Festival Foundation, Riga City Council and the Riga International Cinema Cen-tre, ITERA Latvia regularly initiates and supports numerous cultural projects and creative ideas, which amount is so huge that it seems even

boundless. These are concerts, theatrical and musical performances, art exhibitions in Lat-via and abroad, as well as other, no less signifi-cant cultural projects (such as in cooperation with the Riga City Council, ITERA Latvia made a sculpture „Flight over the city”, dedicated to all the people of Riga and installed in the center of the city, near the channel).

In 2005, the first time in postwar history of the city of Riga, the president of ITERA Latvia Mr.J. Savickis was honored with the Riga City Coun-cil’s „Riga Award” for philanthropy and support of the Riga city cultural development and im-provement.

Each country considers sport to be not only the thing of prestige and the possibility of sup-porting the nation’s consciousness, but also a health basis for all the nation, that’s why the company ITERA Latvia does not deny its sup-port to the Latvian sport. A large part of the sponsorship funds is dedicated to sports devel-opment every year.

Recognizing that children are not only Lat-vian future, but also the future of Latvian sport, special attention is paid to children’s sports pro-motion - the work of children’s section of Lat-vian Tennis Union.

With the support of ITERA Latvia the Latvian Association of Education held a sport camp for orphans from the Latvian orphanages.

Company’s as sponsor’s support is offered to the Latvian Olympic Committee, cycling and martial arts federations and sports veterans as-sociation.

ITERA Latvia is the general sponsor of annual trip of Latvian cycling team.

ITERA Latvia supports also organizations in-volved in our country’s social spheres recovery, donating to Latvian Children’s Fund, Sick Child Support Fund and the Latvian Red Cross.

Thus, strategy of the company’s philanthropy is increasingly focused on charity, updating the Latvian rural children and youth welfare, health and education issues.

Ongoing support is devoted to educational and cultural promotion in Latgale: with the fi-nancial assistance of ITERA Latvia complete works of Francis Trasuns were published, Nirza elementary school was equipped with comput-ers, copiers and television with VCR.

Time, attention, and also financial support each year is dedicated to the Latvian under-privileged and socially unprotected groups of people - pensioners and the needy. Christmas and Easter gifts are prepared for people from Riga District of Daugmale, Balvi District of Susāji and Ludza District of Nirza Municipality.

ITERA Latvia sponsor’s support helped to the rebirth of one of the most important Latvian Catholic religious centers - Aglonas basilica, where the necessary repairs and restoration works have been made thanks to the company’s donated funds.

ITERA Latvia has developed the closest coop-eration directly with the Latvian Tennis Union, and within this cooperation many international competitions with participation of Latvian ten-nis players are being sponsored.

In 2008 by establishing the JSC „Dinamo Riga” and with support of ITERA Latvia the legendary hockey team Dinamo Riga was renovated. Their name is engraved in the heart of every Latvian, and they have already in the first season taken the tenth place in the Continental Hockey League (CHL) Championship as well as get into the play-off of Gagarin Cup for the third season in a row.

A certain amount of money is often donated to other sports. So, with the assistance of ITERA Latvia the „ABC of javelin throwing” was pub-lished as well as the other literature, especially necessary for young athletes.
