Item proposal [Product proposal]

Item proposal or product proposal worked as an order entry tool. As we can maintain the condition record

for all the materials with or without default quantity that particular customer regularly purchases. So that the

business facilitates the end user to enter the materials in the sales order.

End user has to select the option proposed items from the menu bar before entering the material. Then

system presents all the materials with/without default quantity for selection. SAP uses condition technique

for item proposal.

Item Proposal Types [VOV8]




Select document type PV – Item Proposal and click the Details button.

• The document category is “D.” The document category controls how the system behaves. It is pre-

determined in SAP and cannot be added to.

• The document type is to be blocked or not.

• It has an internal and external number range key.

• The item and sub-item increment on the sales order is 10.

(ie, the sequence in which items in the order are numbered)




• Document probability is 100 percent. (It is best to leave this field as 100 percent for sales documents

unless you wish to plan your material requirements based upon this setting and the respective setting in the

customer master record. It is not possible to change the value of this field for item proposals though, as an

item proposal is merely a tool and is not valid for deliveries or invoicing.) Document probability is mainly used

for quotations and orders.

• Output application is used in output determination. Output determination sets what outputs, such as

printouts and e-mail messages, are created.

• Screen sequence, display range, and function code for overview screens are all values that can be

manipulated. They control how the interface is represented in the sales document—that is, should you wish

the system to propose a different screen for quotations than for orders, you can change these entries. The

function code for overview screen determines which overview (or item list) screen users will see when they

create a sales document of this type. For example, if a customer material is always used, you could defaultthe overview screen to a screen that includes this field.

• The incompletion procedure identifies which fields are considered incomplete if the values are null.

• Transaction group controls the data to be updated in the respective tables for each transaction of the

respective document type.

• Document pricing procedure is an indicator that determines what pricing procedure the system will use in

this sales order. For the purpose of product proposals, it is indicating “C.” Which is used in pricing procedure

determination.




Number Ranges

Each document is numbered. A number range is assigned to a document type.

Number ranges are assigned throughout the system. However, for the purposes of this

example we will look at assigning number ranges to a sales item proposal.

Number Ranges for Item Proposals [OVZA] or [VN01] etc.

There are two forms of number ranges:

• Internal The system automatically proposes the number range and the next

available number to be used.

• External The system allows the user to specify a number that has not already been

used and is within the number range for the object.




Create item proposal: Transaction code: VA51

Path:




VA51 – Create

Create a sales document with the document type PV

Enter the SALES AREA DATASales Organization

distribution channel

division




Enter all the materials that are to be proposed as a item proposal

Enter the quantity also; that will be default quantity.

Save it.

Note down the item proposal document number.

Exit




Go to XD02 / VD02




Enter the customer number and sales area data.

Go to the sales area data; Sales Tab; and maintain item proposal number here.

Save and Exit.




Go to VA01

Enter Sold to Party ( Item proposal number should be maintained for it )

Click on EDIT > Additional Functions > Propose items ( ctrl+F11 )




The popup window will appear with three options

o

Default without Quantity

o

Default with Quantityo

Selection List

You can select propose default, with or without quantity and offer a selection list.




Suppose we clicked on Default with Quantity, then the material list we maintained in proposal will be in sales

order automatically
