When the men with the che rts went through the door He burped through o fog of lage r beer And ra ised his voice 11 little more " Ballo,t," quoth ho, •o all could heor. A grin rose up from the frozen core or his heart but it turned to 0 crooked leer

Last aboard her, he turned to glower Thumbed his nose in o rude solute Snarled a curse at the control tower And disappeared with o wag of his chute Out in the nose to rea ppear And voice one lost derisive hoot.

The Lieutenant's Lament A lieutenant is on officer, Or so some people soy. He weors pink ponts ond shoulder strops And drows commissionep poy. But if you pouse ond ponder You will see tho! they ore wrong; 'Tis such a couse for wonder That I've put it into song.
