New Committees
Road Safety Committee – Mazen Muradvich, MCDOT
Recognizing the importance of safety in all facets of transportation and the desire to build on recent initiatives in the valley, this committee will focus on a variety of initiatives including, but not limited to, development of the annual Road Safety Summit held in conjunction with the Arizona ITE/IMSA Spring Conference, a technical session or workshop for the
annual Rural Transportation Summit and providing an umbrella for Arizona STEP Emphasis Area Teams. The committee will also provide a forum for the exchange of
knowledge about various local, regional and national safety programs, funding sources and research initiatives.
New Committees
Young Professionals – Shannon Ness, Kimley-Horn
The goals of the committee are to generate excitement
amongst emerging transportation professionals about the
future of the industry and to strengthen the transportation
industry at a local level by bringing together emerging and
established professionals from a variety of backgrounds.
To kick-start this effort, the Arizona Section has partnered
with the Young Professionals in Transportation – Phoenix
Chapter (YPT Phoenix). YPT Phoenix aims to create an
environment for emerging transportation professionals to build
lifelong relationships with their cohorts by providing access to
a diverse group of professionals.
New Committees
Service & Outreach – Brandon Forrey, Peoria
The Arizona Section has participated in the Future City Competition for many years and has also been a past
supporter of Greater Phoenix E-Week, but would like to do even more public outreach as well as holding regular service
events to give our members a chance to volunteer and improve our community. The committee will also be
responsible for coordinating with the Executive Board and other committees to actively promote our various activities
using our website, email and social media as well as partnering with other groups, like ITS Arizona, APBP and YPT Phoenix to hold joint service activities throughout the valley.
