2Responsibilities

• MSU– Produce ITC fiber assemblies for EB

instrumentation - 99% completed

– Design, construct and test prototypes of crack (E3, E4) scintillators - completed

– Purchase scintillator (E1:E4)

– Purchase & Prepare WLS fibers (E1:E4)

– Assemble, test & install crack scintillators - purchase and assembly of mechanical components pending submission approval of drawings

• UTA– Design, construct and test prototype of gap

(E1, E2, C10) scintillators - in progress

– Assemble, test & install gap scintillators

9Issues & Status

• Funding/production status– Funding (USATLAS) OK’d for gap

scintillators

– Funding OK’d for crack scintillator mechanical components - Production delayed pending TC approval of drawings

• Special Modules– Fiber assemblies for modules with special

ITC submodules is almost completed (except for 1 special module type)

– Prototype mounting brackets have been made for modules with modified inner R - attached after EB assembly - allows us to use standard scintillators on all modules - one didn’t fit

• Light Covers– Plastic film to cover fiber cables, connectors

- detailed design in progress

• Further testing– More Test Beam signal levels ?

– Cs Scans - signal levels ?

– Radiation hardness tests ?

– Check mounting & light covers on EB pre-assembly
