Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge
Children can register for the Space Chase Reading Challenge from 13th July to read 6 books and collect their rewards.
All children who are a member of the library can join the
Reading Challenge over the summer holidays.
Join the library (if not a member) Fill in a Challenge registration card Collect your free gifts Read 6 books over the summer Pick up your collectors’ pack and
stickers when you have read your first 2 books
On completion, receive a medal and certificate
Children under the age of 8yrs need to be accompanied by an adult to all activities. (for some events this will be 12yrs)

Authors Events
Burway Books and Church Stretton library come together to
welcome
Thursday 15th August Authors Anna Mainwaring and Catherine O’Flynn 11.30am -
Talking about their books, reading extracts and answering any
questions.
Anna Mainwaring author of Tulip Taylor: Take another Look.
‘Challenged to go on a `survival' reality TV show, fifteen-year-
old make-up vlogger Tulip only accepts to escape her mother's
money-making schemes and protect her younger brother and
sister. Please book in advance for this and this author is aimed
at young adults. Free event
Catherine O’Flynn author of Lori and Max ‘Lori wants to be a
detective but, so far, the most exciting mystery she has solved
is the disappearance of her nan’s specs down the side of the
sofa. Max is the new girl at school and Lori is asked to look after
her. Max is odd. She doesn’t fit in – but then Lori doesn’t really fit in either. When some
charity money goes missing and Max disappears, Lori seems to be the only person who
doesn’t think Max has stolen it and run away. Please book in advance and this author is
aimed at ages 9+. Free event
Friday 16th August Author Shoo Rayner 11.30am - author of Walker ‘The boy who can
talk to dogs’, reading extracts form the book and doing a drawing workshop. ‘All Walker
wants is a dog, but his mother is allergic. So he decides to set up his own business walking
everyone else’s. This works better than he could have imagined when he finds he can talk to
the dogs and understand what they say to him!’
Please book in advance and this author is aimed at ages 7+. Free event
Crafts and Stories what’s on
Dogs Trust Tuesday 30th July 10.30-11.30—for ages 7-11yrs
Free session with the Dogs Trust—Follow Space Dogs jour-
ney through Space and create a perfect home planet for
Space Dog. Please book in advance.
Rockets Thursday 6th August 11.00-12.00pm for ages 5-11yrs
Come along and design a tealight rocket. Using your skills to
make it as colourful as you like. Taking it home to have by your
bedside. £1.50 per child. Please book in advance as spaces are
limited.

Space with Richard
Free session making a Flying Rocket,
Space Mobile and Pin Wheel. Richard
will give a short talk about space,
answer any questions and will have
other materials available for you to
look at.
This session is aimed at children
5-11yrs but everyone is welcome.
Please book in advance. Bring along your little Space Cadets to Rhymetime every Tuesday morning
10.30am for 5yrs and under here at the library.
