This magnificent 17th century Tuscan country villa is located in a superbe and panoramic position right on the top of a hill in the open countryside of Siena and within easy reach of the Chianti area, Florence, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano and Pienza. Few minutes from the property lays a beautiful village and Torri, an other small local village, is walking distant. The agricultural estate has 2,475 acres of land with fantastic cypress avenues, holm oak trees and cork oaks, where one can enjoy long and cool walks ending up with a refreshing swim in the river Merse. In the surrounding hills the property has a farm with 3,000 Olive trees with beautiful and ancient terraces lined with ancient dry stonewalls and delicious fig trees. The local olive oil, “Terra di Siena”, is a prestigious D.O.P. (Italy's mark of high quality). The property is eco friendly with solar panels and a water purification plant. The rooms have exposed beam ceilings, lime washed walls in soft colours and terracotta tiled floors, with touches of modern Italian design in the fireplaces, bathrooms and outdoor features. Steps lead down to the garden and park, and immediately below is the “infinity pool” with a travertine terrace that blends into its natural rocky environment.

Tuscans have seen a well-tended landscape as a kind of moral imperative and Chianti is

their work of Art.

Chianti is a territory whose boundaries are defined by the Upper Arno Valley, between Florence and Siena, by the road that joins Arezzo to Siena, and by the Florence-Siena motorway. The eight municipalities (counties) are named after the largest town in each, and of these towns Greve in Chianti is the largest. The area of winemaking excellence sanctified by Cosimo’s decree corresponds to one of the most beautiful parts of Tuscany: this is not just because vineyards turn hills into stripy land art installations; it’s also to do with the fact that good wine – at least in these parts – positively needs the wildness that surrounds the vineyards. A glance at Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s 14th-century frescoes of the Allegories of Good and Bad Government in Siena’s Palazzo Pubblico demonstrates eloquently that, for the best part of a millennium, Tuscans have seen a well-tended landscape as a kind of moral imperative.
