Italian Renaissance Sculptures This sculpture is called Pieta which means pity by Michangelo. This picture is representing Virgin Mary holding Jesus Christ in her arms right after he was taken down from being crucified. The masterpiece was made in 1499, this was made during the Renaissance period and it is made of marble. This is now kept in the St.Peter's Basilica. The picture on the right is called The Deposition and it is made by Michangelo. It is also known as the Florence Pieta it is made of marble. It took him a long time to complete it from 1547 to 1553. The picture represents Jesus Christ just taken down from being crucified, the Virgin Mary, Nicodemus or Joseph of Arimathea and Mary Magdalene. It is now kept in the Museo dell ‘Opera del Duomo in Florence. This great sculpture on the left is made by a very famous man named Donatello. The sculpture is called St.Mark and it only took him only 2 years to make it from 1411 to 1413 and it is made out of marble. It is a massive 7 foot high statuette. The sculpture is known for its relativism, nearly everything is visible including the veins on St.Marks left arm! It is now kept in the Orsanmichelle in Florence. This sculpture on the right called Judith and Holofernes is a solid bronze statue. It was created at the end of Donatello's career in in 1460. The Irbaaz Syed

and it is kept in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
