Case study 1

Sector: Automotive

Type of product: Aluminium structure for a vehicle armrest

Customer request:Produce an armrest structure, starting with the drawing of the blank and the finished piece, complete with mechanical machining.Supply: 30,000 pieces a year.

Project:- 5/6 die-casting dies for four different vehicle models - 5/6 blanking dies for four different vehicle models- straightening and deburring of all pieces in automatic cycle- aluminium casting on automated press with robot for unloading pieces and automatic blanking

Eurostampi solutions:Eurostampi recommended eliminating post-casting mechanical machining, which resulted in decreased production costs and times.

The die was then produced by following the drawing of the finished piece. Furthermore, in order to eliminate the mechanicalmachining step, the various die parts were made to be interchangeable so that the die did not require being removed several times.

Eurostampi’s successes:- 30% decrease in the price of the piece- shortened production cycle (by approximately 30 days)

Sector: Automotive

Type of product: Seat

Customer request:Production of 25,000 pieces in two years, with monthly deliveries starting from a single casting as sample. No drawing was providedother than the physical sample delivered to Eurostampi.

Project:- drafting of drawings of the details with three-dimensional scanner- 12 moulds for die casting - 12 blanking dies- straightening and deburring of all the pieces in automatic cycle - aluminum casting- sanding - painting- complete assembly- packaging

Eurostampi solutions:A special casting feeding system for the thin details of the product. In this manner it was possible to avoid three different problems related to the production of pieces made from large die casting, oftencaused by feedings that are too large:- no deformation of the pieces during solidification - no problem of flaking on the aluminum- no problems during the blanking and straightening of the casting

Eurostampi’s successes:- creation of the special casting feeding system allowed the production of large pieces on undersized presses, significantly reducingcosts- perfect seams of the product, free of burr or deformations- reduction of total production waste to 0.1 % on 25000 pieces produced
