Synopsis of the Corto
1) Aspettando il treno (Waiting for the train), 2003, 12 min. Directed by Catherine McGilvray
An old lady is making coffee. A man is sleeping. He wakes up and runs in vain to catch the train
that quickly leaves in front of him. He would like to leave; he should leave. He asks if he can run
away. He mimes and repeats the gestures. He attempts suicide… all part of his obscure illusion.
Other trains go by. He does not manage to catch any of them.
2) Il cuore all'improvviso, (Miranda's journey) 2007, 13 min. Directed by Catherine
McGilvray
A little girl, lost in a park while chasing a mysterious white dog, comes to discover a fascinating
and dangerous world. At the same time a man is dying in his hospital bed.
3) Fuori dal giro (Left out ) 2001, 13 min. Directed by Cotugno e Iacobelli
A man in voluntary isolation on the island of Ponza falls in love. But from his past emerges a
mysterious character who threatens to break the course of his new life...The short film was
awarded Best Screenplay at the Costolazio competition, Best Director at the Trevignano's
Festival and the Audience Award for Best Italian Film at the "Cittadella del Corto” competition.
4) Offerte speciali, (Today's special) 2005, 7 min. Directed by Gianni Gatti
Shoppers flock to a supermarket during the summer holidays to take advantage of the summer
sales. But one shopper, a shy and quiet transsexual, is about to experience something beyond
her wildest imagination.
5) Bobbolone 2002, 10 min. Directed by Daniele Cascella
Aurelio should act as look-out in a robbery. But something distracts him just when his
accomplices are in action and everything starts falling apart... It's a fun short film and was
selected for the competition of Capalbio Film Festival.
6) Stesso posto stessa ora, (Same place same time) 1999, 9 min. Directed by Fabio Rosi &
Werther Germondari
Two men are on a street corner each with a bunch of flowers. Both for their own reasons are
waiting for someone. The wait becomes a subtle challenge of pride between the two …
‘Same place same time’ has received numerous awards and was selected for festivals in
Rotterdam, Montpellier, Annecy as well as for the ‘Europe in Shorts’ program sponsored by the
European Coordination of Film Festivals.
7) Due bravi ragazzi (Two brave boys) 2005, 15 min. Directed by Tony Palazzo
Michael meets Gino after twenty years on his return from New York for a family reunion. But Gino
has been given the thankless task to kill him. Thus begins a surreal tragicomic road movie.
8) Sul mare luccica (It glitters on the sea) 1996, 6 min. Directed by Mimmo Mancini e Paolo
De Vita
A journalistic interview, conducted without blinking and especially without money, of two
unemployed brothers, desperate but indomitable… and still the sea, the Albanians and Italians in
a foreign country, separated and united by the sound of waves...

9) Trilogia del giorno, (Trilogy of the day) 2005, 15 min. Directed by Melo Primo
A trilogy of short films starring Domenico Lannutti starts with the first short film, titled Buongiorno
(Good Morning) that highlights the duel between a man and his reflection exposing a surreal
game on the multiplicity of the human personality, an effective variation on the theme of identity
and its pitfalls. “Buongiorno” has received numerous awards and is currently the most awarded
short film of Italian cinema. “Buonasera” (Good Evening) is the title of the second short film. In a
hotel room, a waitress and a customer change roles as well as their fantasies. The grotesque and
improbable visions of the two intertwined universes merge into a single comic delirium.
Buonanotte (Good Night) is the third short film about a night watchman in a showroom of beds,
who seeks to resist the call of pillows and mattresses.
Synopsis of the Feature Films
1) Santa Maradona, 2001, 96min. Directed by Marco Ponti
Andrea, 27 year old, just graduated from University with a useless degree. He spends his days
looking for a job and killing time talking endlessly with his room-mate Bart and Indo-Italian friend
Lucia. Everything changes when he meets Dolores, a beautiful teacher and actress
2) I giorni dell'abbandono, 2005, 96min. Directed by Giuliano Montaldo
Olga, literary translator, wife and mother of two is suddenly abandoned by her husband
(Zingaretti) for a younger woman. With this she enters into a painful lapse that turns into despair
that brings her to sleep and food deprivation. She encounters her neighbour a musician (Goran
Bregović) that moves something in her. After a descent into hell and eventual rise from despair,
Olga lives an insight that makes her realize that she was not losing her mind for the lost love but
discovers the meaning of losing her dignity and being imprisoned in a single role, which she must
break in order to enjoy life.
3) Tutta Colpa di Giuda - Una Commedia con Musica & Action 2009 Davide Ferrario
Duration – 102 min
Irena is a director of experimental theater that accepts the proposal of Don Iridium to set up in a
prison (the Vallette in Turin) a version of the Passion of Christ. What initially appeared to be work
experience will be for Irena source of great changes in her life. Irena will find many obstacles in
setting the work, she must win the trust of prisoners, fight the stubborn Sister Bonaria but most
importantly she will have to solve the biggest problem, finding someone willing to play Judas.
