He was born in 1452 in Vinci. Leonardo was an italian polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance Man, a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly inventive imagination".

The Vitruvian Man The Vitruvian Man is one of the

most world-renowned drawing created by Leonardo da Vinci. It is accompanied by notes based on the work of the famed architect, Vitruvius. The drawing, depicts a male figure in two superimposed positions with his arms and legs apart and simultaneously inscribed in a circle and square.

Rita Levi Montalcini• Rita Levi-Montalcini born in

1909 is an Italian neurologist who, together with colleague Stanley Cohen, received the 1986 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discovery of Nerve growth factor. Since 2001, she is an Italian senator for life. Today she is the oldest living Nobel laureate and the first ever to reach a 100th birthday.

• Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini was an Italian politician who led the National Fascist Party and is credited with being one of the key figures in the creation of Fascism.

Luciano Pavarotti, was an Italian operatic tenor, who also crossed over into popular music, eventually becoming one of the most commercially successful tenors of all time. He made numerous recordings of complete operas and individual arias, and established himself as one of the finest tenors of the 20th century.

Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino• Giovanni Falcone and Paolo

Borsellino were Italian prosecuting magistrates. From their offices in the Palace of Justice in Palermo, they spent most of their professional life trying to break the Mafia’s stranglehold on Sicily. After a long and distinguished careers, culminating in the famous Maxi Trial, they were tragically both assassinated with the use of car bombs within months of each other. They were also named as heroes of the last 60 years.

• Giuseppe Garibaldi was an Italian military and political figure. In his twenties, he joined the Carbonari Italian patriot revolutionaries, and fled Italy after a failed insurrection. In Italy he led the conflicts of the Risorgimento for Italian unity with the “Thousand”. He has been dubbed the "Hero of the Two Worlds" in tribute to his military expeditions in both South America and Europe. He is considered an Italian national hero.

Cristoforo ColomboChristopher Columbus was an explorer, colonizer, and navigator, who acrossed the Atlantic Ocean. With his four voyages of exploration, all funded by Isabella I of Castile, he initiated the process of Spanish colonization which foreshadowed general European colonization of the "New World".

Silvio Berlusconi• Silvio Berlusconi is an Italian

politician, the current Prime Minister of Italy, as well as an entrepreneur. He is also known under the nickname Il Cavaliere (literally, The Knight). He is the second longest-serving Prime Minister of Italy, after Benito Mussolini. He held this position on three separate occasions: in 1994, in 2001 and currently since 2008. He is the leader of the People of Freedom political movement, a centre-right party he founded in 2009.
