In Italy, the publication of calls for tenders and related notices is carried out on the 5th Special Series of the first serie of the Italian Official Journal, following the publication on the Official Journal of the EU (TED). «Poligrafico» who supplies to the Ministry of Justice the platform that realizes the publication process of the Italian OJ, also developed a web application called IOL («Inserzioni On Line») that lets publishers to prepare a call for tender inside forms, structure it in XML and publish it. IOL is used by registered private publishers, by a special office inside «Poligrafico» that acts as an intermediary for private publishers who don’t use the platform and by third party intermediaries for private publishers. Publishers can publish on TED directly acting as eSenders, using third party eSenders or the eNotices platform.

IOL: «Inserzioni on line». The web application developed by Poligrafico that deals with the publication process of call for tenders on the italian OJ. GURI: The Italian Official Gazette. GUFLOW: The platform that realizes the publication process of all the series of the Italian OJ. TED: Tenders Electronic Daily. It’s the online version of the 'Supplement to the Official Journal' of the EU, dedicated to European public procurement. eNotices: a web platform supplied by UE for preparing public procurement notices and publishing them in the Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union. eSenders: private publishers that developed platforms able to prepare a call for tender, structure it in XML and send it to SIMAP for the publication on TED SIMAP: the platform of the UE that takes care of publication of public procurement data on TED.

After the publication on TED, the publisher uses IOL to prepare the call for tender for the italian OJ, validates it and sends it to the Italian OJ publication process.

SIMAP validates the XML and starts the publication process, that usually completes within 5 days. The publisher checks the publication status.
