How does one express The changes of each day
The change that moulds us Into the people we are today?
And if we can’t express it?
Then how could we face it alone? Well the students of QE
Have never had to go alone.
There is a bond at QE That keeps us all together,
And over the last four years, It now seems stronger than ever.
At QE we learned
With everybody’s help, That the person you’ve got to believe in,
Is yourself.
And as we move on Towards our future we go,
There is one thing We’ll always know…
We can come back And talk to a friend
Because the bond at QE Is a bond that never ends.
~Heather Armstrong, Class of 1989 Poet
Remembering QECVI Celebrating 60 Years of
Pride, Community & Tradition at Queen Elizabeth Collegiate & Vocational Institute
“Moving On”
To all the students who have worked in these rooms and walked away proudly…
To all the teachers who have encouraged our thoughts and nurtured our ideas…
To all the laughter, cheers and victories… To all the disappointments and defeats…
To a unique school spirit which has taught us above all, self-confidence and human worth…
To all these memories we dedicate this ceremony.
~ adapted from introduction QECVI Yearbook, 1955-1990 Anniversary Edition

Farewell Ceremony
June 17, 2016
“Time to Go” Last Staff of QECVI (Semester I & II)
Written by Ms. Alison Pinkerton | Performed by Ms. Pinkerton & QECVI Grade 11 students Rachel Forbes & Emma Hale
Accompanied by Bruce Compeau on guitar
I used to think things lasted forever I told myself things will always get better
Changes today will help you along In a world where you feel so alone
Telling yourself to be brave and courageous When you feel like crying but you’ve got to get through this
What you need to know about leaving this place A new door is open to you
These are the times that teach you to grow
These are the days when you learn to be strong These are the moments when the truth whispers low
When you realize It’s time to go
So you
Dust yourself off and look to the future Shake off your pride and say whatever will be
Choose to be happy and hope for the best As you open up your broken heart
Don’t try to hide from feeling your feelings Those tears you cry give your life its meaning
Open your eyes there’s so much to see The world is at your feet
These are the times when you have to show up in life These are the days that you know you are loved
These are the moments when you choose to go on Smile bravely because you know
It’s time to go Time to go
Listen to your heart, your own intuition
You’re on this road, you have a new mission Be the best that you truly can be
It’s going to work out, just wait and see No one can take your memories, your moments
No one can make you forget that you cared Don’t need to be so fierce and so frightened
We’re all the same- we’re all a bit scared
This is your time - QE is special This is the day - you know that we care
Please understand we’ll always be here for you It’s time to soar, time to fly, time to laugh, time to cry,
time to smile, time to grow, time for you and me Time to go Time to go Time to go

The QECVI Post-Secondary Charitable Trust was established in 2013
to support graduating students in their pursuit of post-secondary studies.
Although scholarships, grants and loans assist students with tuition,
sometimes students cannot afford the application process.
Since its inception, the fund has raised more than $60,000
and has supported 100 students. The QECVI Farewell Committee
is also donating all proceeds from the Silent Auction held during
the recent Community Farewell Celebration.
