AUGUST 2021

It is wonderful to be back at school!

Amidst many changes and unexpected challenges coming our way; to be fully present and to be engaging

face-to-face, heart-to-heart at a time which calls for caring and compassionate human interaction is nour-

ishing both for students and teachers.

We continue to be asked to be hyper-aware of things which we took for granted, or paid little attention

to, and yet, within the current external constraints, we find a way to communicate and continue to en-

gage on many levels. In these times, building and sustaining communities is paramount – the class com-

munity, the parent community and the school community. Communication, real communication, of one

human being to another, remains key in all this.

Such thoughts come our way at a time of renewal and call for courage to infuse our actions. External na-

ture and inner human condition can find a meeting place where they interact – courage and renewal in

each one of us for continuous development of self, for the greater community and ultimately our future.

Welcome back to school!

WCED Term Dates 2021

Dear Parents,

RE-REGSTRATION FOR 2022

During the third term of each year, you are re-quired to confirm your child/ren's registration for the forthcoming year via completion of the attached re-registration form. This information is required for budgeting purposes.

Please indicate updated address and con-tact information on the form, if any of your details have changed. If you have indicated that your child is not returning in 2022, please note that ac-cording to school policy, we require one month's written notice of your intention to dereg-ister. Your exit notice must please be submitted in writing to the Administrator via email: [email protected] by Monday, 1st November 2021.

We require completed forms to be submitted to Althea at the school office by Friday, 3rd Septem-ber 2021 either in hard copy or via email: [email protected].

Parents who wish to apply for fee assistance for 2022 are invited to collect a form from the school reception.

These forms need to be completed in full and re-turned together with ALL supporting documenta-tion to the Financial Administrator, also by Friday, 3rd September 2021.

It is the expectation of the Trustees that parents who receive financial assistance “give back” by participating in the various groups and activities at the Stellenbosch Waldorf School. Participation in and around the school is taken very seriously when considering applications. Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by the end of Term 4 2021.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Kind Regards,

SWS Administration

"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." With many years of experience in the music industry as a performer, composer and teacher, Richard Gauld has found new soil to harmoniously plant the seed of music at Stellenbosch Waldorf School. With years of musical teaching experience, and working with special needs educa-tion, Richard Gauld has an organic approach to music educa-tion and believes that not only does music create balance in one's self, but also gives a sense of community, and produces a kind of pleasure that human nature cannot do without. Richard also shares a passion for music and sound in film, as a music composer and sound designer for both Television and Film, and has worked on projects for some of the top visual entertainment companies such as, Netflix, KyKnet, and Ster Kinekor.

Sun Light Music Studio is now operating from the old Lucky Bean Shop at Stellenbosch Waldorf School, and offers a varie-ty of different individual music classes from piano, saxophone, drums, vocals, music theory classes, music composition clas-ses, marimbas and so much more. Sun Light Music stu-dio not only believes in creating a creative environment for all to experience the joy of music, but also allows all their stu-dents to express their inner musical soul in whichever form they feel needed. Sun Light and Richard Gauld welcome eve-ryone into the space of music.
