Welcome EFSA Family It is with great pleasure that, on behalf of EFSA Portugal and the local organizations, the Naval Club de Ponta Delgada and the Açoreana Association of Sport Fishing of Sea, I greet the EFSA family that for the first time visits the Island of S. Miguel - Azores, integrated into the various sections that will compete in the European EFSA Big Game Championships.

EFSA Portugal is pleased to host and organize the first European EFSA Big Game Championship on the island of S. Miguel-Azores and everything will be done to make it the best social and sporting success. This event would not be possible without the dedication, effort and work of the local organizations mentioned above. I take this public opportunity and the great EFSA family to send my thanks to that commitment and we are all certain that it will be a great success. We are confident that the EFSA family will have a unique experience to enjoy the beautiful landscape that the Island of S. Miguel has to offer to those who visit it, together with the secular heritage, the local gastronomy and the friendliness and hospitality that you will find in the days of permanence, making your stay a recital truly memorable in every way and the desire to return to visit the Island of S. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, 37.5 N and halfway between Europe and America lies the archipelago of the Azores.

In this archipelago of warm waters there is the island of S. Miguel. It has the name of santo because it was adorned by the nature that with it was generous.

It's not your fault to be beautiful! The greens of their mountains are out of the ordinary and challenge any painter to try to reproduce them.

If it comes at the right height it is flooded with the color of the flowers that appear wherever you look.

If you prefer fresh water you can enjoy the lagoons that our nature has offered us for the pleasure of those who visit us.

The sea is simply magnificent and fishing is abundant. In this sense we are promoting the European Game Championships 2018.

In our waters it is possible to capture Blue Marlins, White Marlins of good dimensions, several species of Tunas that have already been beaten several records.

In Shore Capture Atlantic Barracuda, Bluefish, Skipjack Tuna, Dolphin fish, Amberjack Greater, Wahoo, in addition to other bottom fish species.

In the interior waters, lagoons and streams, one can fish trout, Pike Black Bass, Sandre and Carp.

The people are welcoming and hospitable, gracious and the food is better than good.

Internet access is free and easy to use. There are some fishing shops in Ponta Delgada. Lunch on board is included in the boat rental. The boats will be drawn according to the rules of the competition. The crews of the boats are made up of local fishermen.
