ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVODI SARZANA ISA 13
Art is in our hands
ITALY
The aim of the project is to develop children’s
imagination
1. develops and encourages communication skills: asking answering questions, listening, using words to express opinions.
2. helps children identify colours and different materials used.
It also
3. helps them become familiar with different shapes and sizes.
4. encourages them to be aware of the environment
All these skills are useful and necessary for their social and educational development
MOTIVATION:
Our children are of an age when their immagination and their fantasy are still pure and simple.
We mustn’t limit their imagination. We stimulate it.We don’t give them models. Our work must be to allow freedom of expression.
Methodology
• We ask them to draw the child sitting in front of them.
They can use different materials and tecniques (colour pens, crayons and oils, temperas etc…) of their choice
• We stimulate them talking about the shapes and forms of vegetables.
• We ask them to build the face using vegetebles that we supply.
• When we are talking to them we are able to make connections with all subjects: language, science, logic, and so on…..
When they have completed there work we show them famous masterpieces of painters for example ARCIMBOLDO
We chose Arcimboldo because he is perfect to represent a school project about healthy food called “slow food”.In this project our children have been involved in growing vegetables in the school garden. They grow different kinds of vegetables like: tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers courgettes, lemons, radish , herbs etc…..
•We have another advantage of being able to take the children to the galleries and artistic centres near by.•We have also the collaboration of art schools and art academy where the students are the tutors of our children in art .
•Children are also encouraged to look at artists’ work in books which we have at school. At the end we can compare their work with the painting of Arcimboldo. And if they wish, only if they wish, they can make again their masterpieces or they can copy pictures by the painter.
