ARCHIVES & MUSEUM DAY IN CHICAGO

With the assistance of Chicago 44th Ward Alderman Thomas M. Tunney,the Chicago City Council recently passed a resolution to acknowledge theLeather Archives & Museum (LA&M) and to recognize September 18th asLeather Archives & Museum Day in Chicago. Although the LA&M is a nationalcharity, support from Alderman Tunney and the Chicago City Council has beeninstrumental in establishing a physical headquarters.

OF LEATHER HISTORYA new catalog celebrates a milestone anniversaryfor the community institution. The publication canbe obtained free in electronic format or purchasedin print format from the LA&M website. Amongthe 130 images from the Leather Archives andits collections are essays from Dr. Gayle Rubln,Dwight Skeates, Jose Santiago Perez and JakobVanLammeren. The catalog looks at the historyof the institution, where it is today and providesinsights into the future.
