Issues Concerning the Preservation of Life

We are faced with a lot of issues in the society today. One of which is the issue on abortion. Abortion or the termination of life has been and always will be a hot topic in debates all over the world. Talks and discussions between pro and anti abortion parties will never cease because each of the group will stand by their own belief. Different movements are continuously crying their pleas to let other people hear what they have to say. Both opposing sides have their own view points on the issue and their main goal is to open the minds of the people to listen to their side of the story.

Abortion for some people is a choice. Groups of people opt for the termination of life due to certain reasons. First of all, it is for therapeutic purposes. Abortion is induced to preserve the life of the mother especially in situations where pregnancy is threatened. When the health of the mother is at risk, serious decisions are made to terminate pregnancy. It is a difficult choice between two good things. For others it is also a practice of the reproductive rights of every woman whether or not to be pregnant or not to continue pregnancy. This is a stand of the pro choice movement.

Abortion is already legal in certain parts of the world. In Asia, sex-selective abortion is being practiced because for them males are considered the dominant kind and females are the weaker sex. In other areas of the globe, one child policy is also practiced to help in the growing population and thus the family will survive financially with just one child. Medications and surgical procedures are methods used in abortion. Policies are already imposed in particular areas of the world which permits the use of these methods.

On the other hand, the pro life group is the movement which stand that abortion must not be legal. For them it is unethical and no matter what the reasons of the pro choice movements are, it is still morally wrong. They believe that life is precious and a gift. Abortion terminates the life of a fetus. The induced death of the life form is considered murder and murder for them is a sin. They believe that no matter how small fetuses are, they are still human and therefore have the right to live.

Abortion takes away the life of an innocent child. Pro life movement advocates on the importance of life. They believe that life must be treasured. Not only does it cease the life of an innocent but it also places the mother at risk. Maternal deaths due to abortion have been very alarming. Due to the legality of abortion, a lot of women are practicing it even without medical assistance which turns into the death of both the mother and the fetus.

To abort or not to abort is a global concern. The argument between these two groups is never ending. The decision solely depends on the person concerned and this decision must be thought for a million times.
