What’s Up WestMar Why a Newsletter? In this issue... Why a Newsletter Article P.1 Team Member Spotlight P.2 In the News & Upcoming Events P.3 New Listings & Projects P.4 I am very excited to introduce our new WestMar newsletter. Each issue will highlight news and infor- mation related to WestMar, as well as what’s happening in Southwest Riverside County. We will use this newsletter to share per- sonal profiles, technology tips, client tes- timonials, employee success stories, new listings and management contracts, networking opportunities, upcoming events, etc. Several of our team members achieve great things each year, but no one knows it. Wouldn’t you like to share in the suc- cess of your team, whether it’s personal or professional? It is clearly evident that if you surround yourself with achievers, you will be motivated to push yourself to greater success. So, if you have a suc- cess story to share about yourself or someone else, I will make sure it gets added to a future issue. Each issue will include a “Team Member Spotlight”. This section will be utilized to look inside the personalities of our work- force. Team members will be randomly selected. This newsletter will only be as good as the input provided by each member of our team. If you have anything you’d like to add (e.g. interesting articles, jokes, trivia, useful links, computer tricks and tips, kudos for your co-workers, family news, personal and professional accom- plishments, new restaurants or stores you’ve visited, etc.), please forward these to me, so that I can include them in future issues. We want to hear your ideas! To avoid any unintentional discrimination or isolation to one or more employees, we want to stay away from topics involv- ing religion and politics. I know these are hot topics, and the No. 1 goal and intent of the newsletter is to bring us together as a team, not to divide us. While I hope you review the entire news- letter, I would like you to pay close atten- tion to Page 2’s Contest, which includes an opportunity to win a prize. In addition, if you forward any items and I include them in a future issue, your name will get put in a drawing for your chance to win one of the five $5 Starbucks gift cards that will be given out with each issue. Our goal is to keep the WestMar team informed and connected, while highlight- ing the company culture and building team morale. Team Member Spotlight

Q. What are three things you still have on your bucket list? A. To see the Ancient 7 Wonders of the World. To see the Northern Lights.

To sky dive. Q. What is the most beautiful place you’ve ever been? A. The Irie Blue Hole and Secret Falls in Jamaica Q. Other than marriage or birth, what one memory do you cherish most? A. It was probably the day Karlie (my “one-eyed wabbit”) graduated from

high school. After being given a grave diagnosis at 9 months of age and being told she would never walk, talk, or have any quality of life due to several central nervous system brain abnormalities and a severe visual impairment, her graduation day was the best day ever. This is living proof that anything can be accomplished with love, patience, faith, and a positive attitude.

Debra Rye is a Senior Lease Administrator at WestMar and has been a valued member of our team since July 2005.

Contest... I don’t know where I came up with “What’s Up WestMar” as the name of our Newsletter. However, I want every-one to be involved with this publication and have a say in its content, including the name. Therefore, if you can come up with a better name and the team votes to use it, you will win a $50 gift card. Rules: • One submission per employee. • The submission must be confidential and not shared with anyone but me. • Once I have all the submissions, I will send out an email and everyone will vote. • The name that gets the most votes is the name that will be used and that individual will win the $50 gift card. • Deadline for submission: August 15.

Kudos… February 2017—Adela from AMS Paving stated that Christina was very helpful and pleasant to speak with.

March 2017—Georgia from Lundy specifi-cally thanked Amy for taking care of any issue that she needed addressed immediately while she rented space. March 2017—Darcy thanked the entire WPM team for their efforts transferring data from spreadsheets into Yardi, which included Debra preparing Yardi proce-dures to be used moving forward. April 2017—Mike Sater of Metro Interna-tional gave Mark and Scott all 5s (best score) on our client survey. May 2017—Melissa Norburn from Perky Petals complimented Phil, stating he was pretty awesome! June 2017—Melissa Norburn from Perky Petals gave Luanne all 5s on our client survey and said Luanne was great!

Quotables… “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” -Henry Ford

Joke… What did the green grape say to the purple grape?

Holiday Trivia… 1. Who invented fireworks?

2. Who was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence?

3. Which U.S. President signed the bill making Labor Day a national holiday?

4. Which city in the United States was the first to celebrate Labor Day?

Brain Teaser… What has a mouth, but cannot eat; moves, but has no legs; and has a bank, but cannot put money in it?

Q. How do you like being the first employee interviewed for “What’s Up WestMar”? A. Me being the example setter...ha! Both good and bad! I feel obligated to do the right thing and cooperate. Q. If you could tell one person (other than your parents) “thank you” for helping you become the person you are today, who would it be and why? A. My grandma Shirley, who is celebrating her 92nd birthday. As a child, she taught me how to persevere through adversity, encouraged me to

never give up, and said that hard work, dedication, and commitment would pave the way to my future. Q. What or who are you a closet fan of? A. I am obsessed with Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and had dreams of him and I being married and living on a Caribbean island…then I woke up. Q. We know you can sing, but can you play any instruments? A. I actually self-taught myself to play the piano and my favorite song to play is “My Favorite Things” from the Sound of Music. Q. If you could be in the movie of your choice, what movie would you choose and what character would you play? A. I would be Sandi in Grease. My favorite song to sing in the movie is “Summer Lovin”.
