The people I know who have found and bought the best properties in the shortest period of time have completely immersed themselves in the experience. If you really want to find your perfect home, you should make the search your part-time job.

The web is a convenient and efficient way to keep up to date on the market. It offers home hunters access to websites containing listings of homes for sale, the history sales data of the house, as well as other tools like mortgage calculating tools. You have access to property images, room dimensions, sometimes videos and more.

Another way to search for property is through listings in magazines and

newspapers or even driving around neighborhoods checking out open houses.

Founded in 1981, the Food Bank of Delaware has been working to alleviate hunger in the community for close to 30 years. The organization has grown from humble beginnings as an organization who served 50 agencies out of a basement in the Northeast State Social Service Center in Wilmington to a statewide hunger-relief organization with operations in both Newark and Milford. Today the Food Bank of Delaware is the only facility in Delaware with the equipment, warehouse and staff to collect donations from all sectors of the food industry and safely and efficiently redistribute them to those who need it most.

In partnership with 440 hunger-relief program partners, the Food Bank of Delaware distributes more than 7.7 million pounds of food each year to close to 242,000 Delawareans. With close to one in four Delawareans depending on emergency food assistance at one time or another during the year, the support of the community is central to the Food Bank’s ability to feed those struggling to make ends meet.

In an effort to ensure that no Delawareans goes with a holiday meal, the Food Bank of Delaware recently kicked off its annual holiday food drive. This season the hunger-relief organization hopes to collect more than 150,000 pounds of food for Delawareans at risk of hunger.

“Close to one in four Delawareans depend on emergency food assistance services,” says Food Bank of Delaware President

and CEO Patricia Beebe. “This holiday season I encourage all Delawareans to take a stand against hunger and help make the holiday season bright for our struggling neighbors in need.”

The Food Bank is asking for the public’s assistance in making sure that no Delawarean goes without a holiday meal this season. Businesses, schools, faith-based organizations and other community groups are encouraged to organize food drives throughout the holiday season.

The Food Bank is in need of: • Macaroni and cheese

• Canned or packets of gravy

• Pie crust

• Chocolate pudding mix

• Cranberry sauce

• Seasoned stuffing mix

• Biscuit mix

• Instant mashed potatoes

Food collected from the holiday food drive will be distributed to people in need through the food bank’s network of hunger-relief program partners. These hunger-relief agencies include churches, food pantries,

• Canned vegetables (green beans, corn, yams and peas)

• Canned fruits (pineapple and apple sauce)

• Pancake mix and syrup

• Apple juice

• Turkey roasting pans

• Frozen turkeys (drop off to Newark or Milford warehouses only)

Those who collect more than 20 boxes/bags of donated food may make arrangements with the Food Bank of Delaware to have donations picked up. In an effort to save money on transportation costs, the Food Bank asks that donations of fewer than 20 bags/boxes be dropped off at the Food Bank’s facilities:

relief, the Food Bank of

Delaware also works to

provide long-term solutions to

the issues of hunger and poverty in the First State. Through The

Culinary School at the Food Bank of Delaware, the hunger-relief

organization provides valuable job training skills to those who are

under and unemployed, ex-offenders and in career transition.

The mission of The Culinary School is two-fold. First students

are taught skills that are highly desirable to employers in the

food industry and second, these newly developed skills have the

potential to lead to jobs in the industry that provide job security

and economic sustainability. To gain real-world experience,

students cater fundraising events for the Food Bank of Delaware

and other outside gatherings in the community.

The 12-week program includes 10 weeks of hands-on training in

basic kitchen skills, safe food handling and life skills. The 10-week

training culminates with a two-week paid internship at a food

service company, restaurant or catering company. The school is a

certified trade school by the Delaware Department of Education.

much house and what kind of financing you can afford, and a preliminary commitment to provide you with that financing.
