Sixth Annual WPAG Winter Social, Banquet and Shoot Barb Schneider
Eskimo shoot and Banquet Saturday, March 9, 2013
Banquet and Shoot location: Lakeside Ballroom, 1408 County Road Y, Hatley WI, on Pike lake
Directions: Hwy 29 to Exit 185 Hatley (CTH Y) turn South on Y, 4.5 miles to Pike Lake area. Ballroom is located on NE corner of Y and Ballroom Lane. There is a big "A" frame entrance.
Five months is a long time to go without pyro friends and shooting fireworks. There will also
be a Rocket area, Class C area, and bonfire. If you have any scrap wood please bring some! We need firewood for the bonfire, but tree logs are limited from a 25 mile radius of Hatley.
The fishing shacks come off the ice on March 6, so we've got the lake all to ourselves. Lake-side Ballroom is directly on Pike Lake, so we have a nice "warming house", indoor bathrooms,
a place to change clothes and a bar. Bring warm clothes and a chair to sit by the fire and
watch.
If for some reason our weird weather patterns make the ice on the lake unstable, we will still
have a Class C area only and bonfire. If it matters, call me by Friday, March 8, 2013 to check
conditions.
Banquet Information: The social hour will start at 4:00 PM, dinner at 6:00, Shoot following dinner. The menu is chicken, chicken gravy, ribs, real mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetable,
coleslaw, home baked dinner rolls, dessert, coffee and milk. Dinner will be served family style. The cost is $14.00 per person and includes tax and tip. Please reserve in advance, but bring
payment to banquet. Please bring a check or exact change!
If you have any fireworks videos you like, bring them along and we’ll show them on the big screen!
Shoot Information: We again have a permit to shoot both class C AND class B material. We
will have a B line with 3'', 4'', 5'', and 6'' guns. (Thanks John Petrash!) Our size limit for shells will be 6''. Plan to bring proven items. There are a lot of houses around the lake, so leave the
experimental devices for May. We can shoot until midnight, and the neighbors are friendly, so
bring lots of stuff! We'll have treats later.
Remember!!! Only black powder rockets for the winter banquet. One pound limit. If you
have any questions about this, Jim Biersach or Steve LaDuke can help.
Remember that YOU will be responsible for maintaining security of the materials during the banquet.
Please make reservations by Sunday, March 3, 2013

President’s Column - January 2013
By: Larry Huber
New Year greetings, At the beginning of a New Year, I am looking forward to another active year for our guild. The calendar of meetings has been finalized for 2013 by your Board of Directors and is available on the club website at http://wpag.us/meetings.htm A number of suggestions for seminars and activities have been made for the coming year. We will continue to refine our safety planning and manufacturing activities and will attempt to add some Class “C” product demonstrations on Friday evenings. Details will be posted to the club website as they become available. Once again I encourage you to renew your membership as soon as possible. It is important that membership renewals be made as early as possible in the New Year. The reason is sim-ple. We must pay our annual insurance premium before the end of February so that we can obtain a certificate of insurance for our March Mid-Winter Dinner/Shoot. Unfortunately our hopes for an online renewal website have not been accomplished even though much effort has been expended. Therefore please send your renewal dues via the U.S. Postal Service. Please visit http://wpag.us/membersh.htm where you can find a link, at the bottom of the page, to the renewal form that can be printed and mailed to our secretary, Chris Szot. Once you renew, a current year validation sticker will be available at the Mid-Winter Dinner/Shoot, for all of those who have paid their dues. There is an article elsewhere in this issue with complete details about the Eskimo Dinner/Shoot. Please be sure to make reservations with Barb so that meal numbers can be provided to the restaurant. There is still time to make nominations for the offices of Vice President, Treasurer, and two Directors. All nominations must be submitted by the January 31, 2012 deadline. Complete in-formation can be found on the club website at http://wpag.us/nominations2013.htm
Elections will be held during the May 2013 club meeting. Bill Van Faasen is the Election Chair-person this year. If you have an interest in serving the club as a candidate for any of the of-fices open for election, please contact Larry Huber or Bill via email at [email protected] before the end of January. Nominations approved so far are:
Vice President – Mark Merten Treasurer – Dick Horneck
Directors – Steve Hubing and Barb Schneider
I’m looking forward to the 2013 season so that we can enjoy great times filled with friends, food, fun, and glorious fireworks.
Stay Green. Larry
Enrollment Now Open for WPAG’s PGI Shooter Certification Course, April 27, 2013
Once again WPAG will be offering the PGI Shooter Certification Course, which will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the Wildlife Campground, from 10 AM until approximately 6 PM. If you want to shoot 1.3g (Class “B”) material at club events, completion of this course is manda-tory. The deadline for signup is April 13, 2013, and the course is limited to 30 students, so sign up as soon as possible to be assured of getting a spot in the course. The course will cost $75.00 for club members and $100.00 for non-club members. The course fee includes the PGI's "Display Fireworks Operator Certification Study Guide," (a $40.00 value), live demonstrations of fireworks malfunctions, the opportunity to shoot two 3-inch shells, and other miscellaneous course supplies. A lunch will be available on site for a nominal charge, or you may bring your lunch with you. Please do not plan to leave the campground to eat lunch, since time that day is very short. To register for the course, please visit the club’s website at www.wpag.us and select the Shooter’s Certification link for complete details and a course application. Once again this year John Jagerson will be taking the applications. John’s name and address are on the class regis-tration form. If you would like to attend this class for PGI recertification purposes, but are not planning to purchase a copy of the PGI course study guide, please inform Barb Schneider so that arrange-ments can be made for you to audit the class.
Shoot Report by Jim Biersach
Some members of the
WPAG attended the
shoot in Vinton Iowa
hosted by the IPA.
The fellowship was
good, the pyro was
great, and the food
was non-stop. I would
recommend it as a
nice pyro adventure.
