Picking up your child early on a regular basis will have a significant impact on their curriculum coverage, progress and attainment. The class with the most early pickups last week was: KG1 E (Ms. Liz) FROM THE PRINCIPAL The school will have its first Intra-House event this week with a “virtual” sports day taking place in lessons across the week. This will culminate in a presentation to the winning House on Wednesday which will coincide with the Abu Dhabi’s School Sports Initiative. Children will compete in their House teams and be awarded points according to their performance. The points will be tracked in a league table and the team with the most points on Wednesday will win. In addition to the sports activities, we will be running a competition throughout the week to design the new House T-shirts as part of our “Innovation” project. Children will have further opportunities to develop innovation in their robotics and design technology lessons. An Assessment Evening will take place on 24 th November. Parents will be provided with information on the new English National Curriculum assessment procedures and how they will be used to track and report children’s attainment and progress. The session lasting 45 minutes will be repeated three times for your convenience at 4 pm, 5 pm and 6 pm. Please join us promptly to learn more about this important area of your child’s educational journey. In connection with this, the week commencing 8 th December will be Progress Review Week. Some baseline assessments will be repeated and some assessments of embedded knowledge will take place during this week too. The curriculum will continue as normal and any assessments will be carried out in the weeks leading up to and including the week of the 8 th in normal lesson time. During the week commencing 13 th December, the students from G1 to G8 will be involved in Science investigation Week. Grade leaders will be sending details confirming the topics to be covered in their December Curriculum Newsletter. G5 to G8 will be focussing on space coinciding with the first British man (Tim Peak) to enter the International Space Centre on 15 th December. NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS We have a full programme of entertainment planned for Thursday and we would be delighted if you could join us! Invitations will be sent later in the week. If you can help your child’s teacher by decorating the classroom, please contact them directly. Kindly bring any entries for the UAE food competition to school on Thursday morning at 8 am and please remember that we are a nut- free school. Celebrations will start at 9 am. Issue No. 4

UAE TRADITIONS CLUB The Club hosted a majlis on Wednesday 11th November where the winners of the Flag Day competition were chosen by Ms. Allison and Ms. Caroline. Well done to everyone who took part as the entries were impressive. Thank you to the parents for sending in food and drinks for the majlis; those teachers invited enjoyed sharing the event with the boys.
