Presidents Report

Bob presented the new members Patrick Mur-

phy and John Wilson with new member packs,

and welcomed them into the Club.

New members Craig & Jodie Brooks will have

their new member packs sent out in the post.

Eddie took Christopher Dickies pack to hand

deliver.

Bob mentioned points that were raised at the

Committee Meeting on Wednesday 17th Sep-

tember 2014.

Insurance:

If you are a financial member of the Club you

are covered for any runs that you attend. Our

Insurance does not cover Time Trials.

Volunteers on Check points for the TDR are not

covered under our insurance, check points need

to be manned by Club members, and must be

over 14 years of age. If people turn up to our

rides who are not Club members, and they wish

to ride with us they need to pay the $25 nomi-

nation fee so that they are covered on the ride

by our insurance.

Bob also stressed the importance of not alter-

ing bike number plates.

Apparently someone had cut their new 1HC

plate to make it smaller and fit their bike and

was pulled over by the Police.

The fine was $250, and the rider had to park the

bike, and fit the correct plate on the bike before

continuing his ride.

There is a fine of up to $1000 for altering num-

ber plates.

The Indian Harley Club 2015 Calendar

Calendars are now available for purchase at

$15.00 each from Neville Green. A great Xmas

gift for family and friends, so please buy them

so that we can make it and ongoing annual pro-

ject.

Long Sleeved Shirts

Glenda has ordered the long sleeve shirts, and

they should be ready in 8-10 weeks.

Dardanup Heritage Park

Jill Brooks would like to do a run for the IHC in

place of the Heritage Day. They intend to have

smaller feature days in future. A run could be

organized to end up at the Park where the bikes

would be displayed. The Brooks family will or-

ganize all the advertising for the event. Glenda

will tell Jill a number of available days, and she

will get back to us with a date.

Spring Rally

It was decided that the trophy for the Spring

Rally would be the best presented bike on the

day, because it wasn’t a timed event.

Captains Report

Midweek PM-10-9-2014-13 Riders 1 Passen-

ger

Neville Green led the riders up Coalfields Hwy

to Wellington Dam where he had arranged for

the kiosk to be opened for the group. The return

journey was via Lennard Drive and Pile Rd.

Spring Rally-14-9-2014-27 Riders 5 Passen-

gers

Perfect Spring weather for ride which took the

riders around Dardanup West, Crooked Brook,

Argyle, Elgin, Stratham, Gelorup and back to

Bunbury finishing at Bob Brittain's for sausage

sizzle. Many thanks to Neville G, for planning

course, back up girls Glenda & Anne and Bob

and Tammy for their hospitality.

Busso AM-17-9-2014-13 Riders

The group left Busselton turned down Tuart Dr

and into Ludlow Rd North managing to lose 5

riders when reaching Bussell Hwy. Continuing

on without them, turned down Boyanup West

Rd thru Boyanup and Hurst Rd to Donnybrook

for our morning tea where the missing riders

were already enjoying coffee! The moral being

always is able to see rider in front and wait if

any behind. Return to Busselton via Goodwood

Rd to Capel, Tuart Rd and along the seaside

finishing at Causeway Dr without further mis-

haps.

Scribe Phil Bussanich

Midweek AM-24-9-2014-8 Riders

Unfortunately this ride was not advertised in

the magazine calendar so may have contributed

to low number of riders. However John P. lead

the ride to Capel back thru Elgin, Boyanup and

Eaton finishing at a Barbeque area in Mill-

bridge where the chef, Lyn Bodycoat, had sau-

sages waiting for the group while I had sand-

wiches, cake and hot water for them. Once

again thanks to Lyn for helping out.

Busso AM-1-10-2014-15 Riders

This ride planned by Peter Whiteside to Swoop-

ing Magpie Winery in Dunsborough area. The

route was thru Acton Park, Jindong, Carbanup,

and Wildwood Rd to Commonage Rd finishing

at winery for morning tea. A fairly long ride of

103km without break. After morning tea rode

back to Dunsborough to refuel a couple of

bikes then back to Busselton via Caves Rd and

the bypass. All riders finished without incident.

Congratulations to Peter for a well-planned ride

and route sheets. Busselton rides are becoming

popular; it was interesting to note 70% of bikes

in the 2 rides are over 25 years old.

Busso AM-8-10-2014-4 Riders

Today’s ride only attracted 4 riders due to con-

fusion over schedule. Anyway we rode thru

Vasse to Cowaramup and onto Millers ice

cream factory where we all enjoyed a COFFEE,

only "John the Pom" had an ice-cream. It was

all very nice with only a few drops of rain to-

wards the end. Return journey was via

Yallingup, Dunsborough back to Busselton total

125km. 50% bikes over 25 years and 100%

rider over 60 years!!!!!

PLEASE NOTE: Busselton Rides will always

be held as AM rides and only on the 1st and

3rd Wednesday regardless of Bunbury rides.

Should a date overlap occur we will endeav-

our to arrange to meet the Bunbury group at

a mutual destination. Scr ibe Phil Bussanich

Roy's Ride-12-10-2014-33 Riders 6 Passengers

There were 26 riders and 6 passengers who de-

parted Bunbury for Murray's to view the re-

stored petrol bowsers. Another 6 riders and 1

from Capel made their own way there.

Page 6: ISSUE NOVEMBER 2014 - Wild Apricot · 2014. 10. 24. · Midweek PM-10-9-2014-13 Riders 1 Passen-ger and Wildwood Rd to Commonage Rd finishing Neville Green led the riders up Coalfields

The Bunbury riders travelled Ocean Dr, Bussell

Hwy, Gavins Rd, Boundary Rd, Railway Rd

and Elgin Rd arriving at the destination in time

for morning tea. With the addition of a new

shed Murray has really improved the display

and it is a great credit to him. After a lot of

looking and discussions everyone left to ride to

Muriel's for the hamburger lunch where there

about another 20 people waiting. It was a really

good day and a great memorial event for Roy.

Once again grateful thanks to Muriel and the

Melvin family for the work and effort in making

the day a success, Murray & Marilyn for their

hospitality not forgetting Eddie the back-up

driver.

WheatbeltRide-2014-9-Riders-3-Passengers-9

on 4 wheels including-Back-up

Saturday 26th September:

The weather was wet & windy with storms fore-

cast. At 0800 Ross hitched up trailer to car

while I warmed up my bike and packed saddle

bags ready for ride. Bolt & Michelle arrived

with their bags to be transported but were not

leaving until later in the day when front had

passed. Ross said he was going to pick up Kate

C. to be his navigator for the weekend. Bolt's

words about the weather made me hesitate

about riding so I rang Glenda and she was un-

sure about riding as well. The forecast was not

very promising for the entire weekend so I de-

cided not ride but travel in the car with Ross &

Kate (a wise decision as it turned out in the

end). Arriving at Dolphin Ross Eaton was first

to arrive followed by John Coleman, Mac

Moore, Dave Lind & Kay and Pat Fennell on

his trike. Bob & Tammy decided to go by car

as did Wayne & Glenda. Ross had a bit of a

sore and swollen eye when we left but was sure

the drops he had been given were going clear

the problem before the weekend was out. Alas

not to be, as after a couple of hours he asked me

to drive because he was having trouble seeing.

Travelling to Caballing via Dardanup, Boyup

Brook, Kojonup, Katanning, Dumbleyung,

Wagin and Narrogin our destination was

reached about 3pm (approx. 423km) after an en-

tire day of wet & miserable weather the poor

wet riders were hanging out for a hot shower

and dry clothing. Waiting for us at the pub were

Bolt, Michelle, John Mattaboni and Margaret

who had travelled a shorter route. Joe & Pauline

Callegari had travelled in the comfort of four

wheels. After a few drinks and dinner most of

the group had an early night.

Sunday 28th September

This morning saw Ross's eyes and face even

more swollen so the drops were not having any

effect. After breakfast we set off for Brookton

in similar weather conditions to the previous

day, with occasional breaks in the showers it

was still cold and miserable. The ride today

took us through Narrogin, Wickepin, Kulin,

Kondinin, Corrigin and Quairading to reach

Brookton pub about 3pm (approx. 341 km) Dan

Locke & Ken Britza also arrived having made

their way from Bunbury that day. As Ross's

face was getting worse I then decided to seek

medical assistance for him so drove about 70km

to Narrogin where the Doctor was sure it was

shingles (which was ultimately confirmed) and

he would have to see and eye specialist as soon

as we returned to Bunbury. Back at the Brook-

ton pub after a meal and drink most proceeded

to their rooms for another early night while

some watched the Moto GP on TV.

Monday 29th September

We arose to the same sort of day as the previous

two, wet & miserable with a few glimpses of

sunshine so the decision was made to travel the

shortest route home through Narrogin, Williams

and Collie to Bunbury. Mac Moore and Pat Fen-

nell had already departed before most people

were up. Although the weather was inclement

the camaraderie and comfortable hotels chosen

by Ross E. made for a very pleasant

weekend. Thank you so much Ross Eaton for

planning the weekend, the route taken and or-

ganization of the hotels. Thanks Faye for being

scribe for this report.

Once again thanks to everyone who kept the

show running while I was on the "Cruise from

Lake Perkolilli 100 Year Reunion.

I was fortunately able to attend the event after

going through a Triple by pass operation, my

brother in law John Rooney picked me up with

two bikes in tow.

We arrived at the lake on Tuesday 14th Oct and

set up camp in the bush behind what was to be

the Pit area. After we set up camp it was time

for a few ales and story telling around the small

cooking fire, what a beautiful spot under the

stars. Wednesday morning saw us up at day

break fussing over the bikes while preparing

breakfast, The lake was calling to us and it was-

n’t long before we ventured out for the first run

around the track.

What a feeling to be belting around like many

before us all those years ago, the surface was

hard and quite smooth for the most part. Roons

was on the 28 Aerial and me on the 29 Aerial Jo

Zappa on his Norton and Mick Turner on his

BSA Sloper all out there having the time of our

lives.

By lunch time it was getting hot so we took a

break till late afternoon and went out again for

more, well wouldn’t you? Thursday the organis-

ers had a system of ½ hour bikes and ½ hour of

cars until it once again became too hot for the

old vehicles 41 deg. We just had to go back to

having a cool one again. The nights were warm

not as expected cool.

Friday saw more bikes and cars arriving and

taking up their position on the track, this time

with the direction of the marshal’s. Both Thurs-

day and Friday went well for the organisers with

every one enjoying the chance to burn up the

track.

Friday also came with a weather warning of

much rain and storms to come that night and

through out the week end, what a bummer. By 5

pm we were sitting under tarps and tents shelter-

ing from the downpour. The drinks still came

and we were still having fun in the rain. Satur-

day morning the weather had let up a bit so after

a briefing by the Organisers all started to pack

up to get out before the rain prevented us driv-

ing out, the surface of the lake and the tracks

were becoming boggier by the minute.

It was off to my son’s place to clean up the mud

gathered on vehicle and trailer on the way out to

the main road, some bloke had taken a road bike

in, in the dry and was having one hell of a time

trying to ride out in the mud. Unfortunately the

whole event was cancelled, just as well as by

afternoon Kal had one hell on a hail storm,

Roons and I had to have lunch at one of the

pubs offering a Parmy and pint for $20, after

which it was off home to son #1’s place for a

LOB. Even this was spoilt by a hailstorm beat-

ing on the roof of the shed, it sounded like a ma-

chine gun for 10 minutes.

The hard luck story for the trip has to go to

Mike for getting a blow out at the road works

just west of Coolgardie. Then having brother

Steve bring him a tyre and tube from home only

to find a split in the sidewall so big I could put 3

fingers in it. My son arranged for two tyres for

him in Kal so off he went to buy same.

I found out he finished the trip with another

puncture on the way home. Definatly not your

trip Mick.

The Indian/Harley club had twice as many bikes

as the other club from Perth. I think I can say

for all who attended that it was well worth going

along to take part in such an event, there is even

talk about some going back in two years to do it

all again.

I would like to give thanks to Roons who took

on the task of being my carer for Jan, he did an

outstanding job putting up with me for a whole

week, any one out there who is in need of a car-

er I can recommend my Brother in law John

Roons

Chick Dimmack.
