Devonport Primary School Department of Education Issue No. 28: 24th November, 2016 Hello Everyone, This week has been a big one for sport; starting on Monday with our athletics carnival and finishing today with the Primary Schools Triathlon. The general feeling is that our athletics carnival was a complete success - the weather was kind, the P & F barbecue was a big hit and students put in their best efforts. It seemed that there was a real family feel to the day, perhaps because we had so many parents, grandparents and family members coming along to cheer on our children. If you were able to attend, thank you on behalf of our students, as we know they love having you there to support them. Of course, a big day such as the athletics carnival doesn’t just happen by magic; it is the result of a lot of hard work and planning from our dedicated school staff. We owe a very big thanks to Miss Narelle Genge for the hours and hours of organisation and preparation she puts into this major event each year. The smooth running of the carnival is testimony to the degree of thought and consideration that she puts into this, weeks and weeks ahead of the actual event. Thanks too to our staff and volunteers who assisted with setting up and packing up as well as undertaking roles during the day - a great team effort all round. Likewise, the Primary Schools Triathlon has also involved a lot of planning and preparation including in-school and after school training and a lot of additional work for our office staff. Thanks again to Miss Genge for her hard work, to Miss Warren for the significant contribution she has made to support this and to Mrs Walker and Mrs Clark for ensuring all the registrations have been completed and returned in good time. We’re thrilled that so many students are participating this year and wish them all the best. Final preparations are now well underway for our annual school concert next Thursday 1st December. Tickets for the two concerts are on sale at the office so please come and buy yours asap if you haven’t already. The children are very excited about performing for family and friends and we’d all love to see you there. Just a reminder that tomorrow is a public holiday for Devonport Show Day. We wish everyone a happy and safe long weekend and look forward to seeing you all again next Monday for another very busy week. Department of Education

Issue No. 28: 24th November, 2016

Hello Everyone,

This week has been a big one for sport; starting on Monday with our

athletics carnival and finishing today with the Primary Schools Triathlon.

The general feeling is that our athletics carnival was a complete success -

the weather was kind, the P & F barbecue was a big hit and students put

in their best efforts. It seemed that there was a real family feel to the

day, perhaps because we had so many parents, grandparents and family

members coming along to cheer on our children. If you were able to

attend, thank you on behalf of our students, as we know they love having

you there to support them. Of course, a big day such as the athletics

carnival doesn’t just happen by magic; it is the result of a lot of hard work

and planning from our dedicated school staff. We owe a very big thanks

to Miss Narelle Genge for the hours and hours of organisation and

preparation she puts into this major event each year. The smooth

running of the carnival is testimony to the degree of thought and

consideration that she puts into this, weeks and weeks ahead of the

actual event. Thanks too to our staff and volunteers who assisted with

setting up and packing up as well as undertaking roles during the day - a

great team effort all round.

Likewise, the Primary Schools Triathlon has also involved a lot of planning

and preparation including in-school and after school training and a lot of

additional work for our office staff. Thanks again to Miss Genge for her

hard work, to Miss Warren for the significant contribution she has made

to support this and to Mrs Walker and Mrs Clark for ensuring all the

registrations have been completed and returned in good time. We’re

thrilled that so many students are participating this year and wish them all

the best.

Final preparations are now well underway for our annual school concert next Thursday 1st December. Tickets for the two concerts are on sale

at the office so please come and buy yours asap if you haven’t

already. The children are very excited about performing for family and

friends and we’d all love to see you there.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is a public holiday for Devonport Show

Day. We wish everyone a happy and safe long weekend and look

forward to seeing you all again next Monday for another very busy week.

Kind regards,

Camp Clayton Summer Camps

We are excited to announce that our 2017 camp catalogue is finally available!

It’s an exciting time for us as we prepare for our big set of camps coming up in the 2017 Summer holidays!

We would love it if you had some of our 2017 camp catalogues at your reception office to display for parents

and students to take home. If you would like physical copies of our catalogue, please just reply to this email

with how many you would like, and with your postal address, and we will send them out to you!

Get involved in the School Banking program. Devonport Primary School is excited to offer the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program to all students.

The School Banking program provides children with an opportunity to deposit money into their Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account at school each week. The program is about how often your child makes deposits, not how much they deposit. To encourage regular savings behaviour the program offers an exciting Rewards Program. Every deposit earns your child a silver Dollarmites token, and once they’ve collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for a reward. These 2016 rewards are currently available:

Outback Pat Bag Tag

Bush Fly Fan

Wriggly Glow Worm

School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives $5 when a student makes their first ever School Banking deposit and 5% on every deposit made through the school (to a maximum of $10 per individual deposit). Getting involved in School Banking is easy!

All you need to get involved in the School Banking program is a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account. To open an account for your child, you can visit your local branch. All you need to bring is your current personal identification as well as your child’s birth certificate. If you are an existing Commonwealth Bank customer and have NetBank, you can open an account for your child online. If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away. They just need to bring their deposit in every week on School Banking day using their Dollarmites deposit wallet. School Banking day is Monday.

If you would like to know more about the School Banking program, please ask for a 2016 School Banking program parent pack from the school office.
