PRESIDENTS REPORT

Welcome to the IHC March 2020 General

Meeting. Summarising the salient events for the month and outcomes of the previous com-mittee meeting:

Two Day Rally

Sincerely like to thank everyone who helped in some way to make this once again a very successful event.

Calendar of Events

The Brass Monkey Run is to be held on the 7th June we are looking for someone to organ-ise this run, generally it is an early morning ride finishing at a local establishment for a hearty cooked breakfast. Thanks to Bernie Mc Cormack for volunteering to organise this ride.

Richards Run (incorrectly shown as Restora-tion Run on website calendar) has been moved to 21st of June. The Captains Run, which was previously scheduled for 21st of June has been moved to the 5th of July.

Licensing Changes

There has been no advice from the CMC about the proposed changes, however there are sev-eral possible ramifications that will require consideration by the club once the exact na-ture of the changes if any, is announced.

Sidecars

Owners of sidecars need to be aware that if a sidecar is added to a motorbike which is li-censed as a single machine it will require re-examination. I will ask the Club Machine Ex-aminer to further elaborate on the require-ments.

Club Trailer

The sale of the trailer was endorsed by mem-bers at the February General Meeting.

A reserve price has been set by the committee, the sale, by expression of interest, will be ad-vertised in the April

5

edition of the Classic Vibrations and by email to all club members with a valid email ad-dress.

All expressions of interest are to be emailed to the club secretary before 30th April. The trail-er will be sold to the highest bidder above the reserve price.

Mid-Year Social Event

A reminder about our mid-year social event at the trotting track on the 11th July, a flyer about the event detail is being prepared to be added to the April edition of the Classic Vibrations. A PayPal account is to be set up to enable pay-ment to be made via the club website.

50-year Celebrations

We have three volunteers so far for the organ-ising committee, chasing a few more volun-teers, please see any committee member if you would like to put your name forward.

Mid–week Rides

Questions have been raised with the club LLO regarding some aspects of the mid-week rides e.g. length of rides, how the organiser keeps track of the riders.

The committee felt that a review of the eti-quette regarding how we organise and run these rides is required with the intent to update the club information book.

CAPTAINS’ REPORT

Sent through to the editor.

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT

Nothing to Report.

PROPERTY OFFICERS REPORT

Thanks to everybody who helped over the weekend. There is possibly a club table miss-ing after the weekend, it may require a re-count.

LICENSING LIAISON OFFICERS RE-PORT

43 bikes started the 2 Day Rally without dis-playing the required descriptive plate identifi-ers i.e. yellow and black “HISTORIC” stick-ers. This situation will have to be addressed by the club and its members.

Some of those 43 bikes may have been fully licenced and not required to display them, but it is mandatory for all vehicles with a 404 Concession Code licence to display a descrip-tive plate identifier.

The following are extracts taken from the CMC Concessional Licence Code 404 Infor-mation Booklet, Aug 2017. “All vehicles with 404 concession code applied must display mandatory descriptive plate identifiers i.e.: ‘VETERAN’, ‘VINTAGE’, ‘POST VIN-TAGE’, ‘INVITATION’ or the now standard-ised word ‘HISTORIC’.”

“Owner onus cannot be stressed strongly enough.”

Clubs can have their approved status can-celled if their members do not follow the rules. This action would be to the detriment of fellow club members who do the right thing and abide by the conditions of the 404 concession. Therefore, it is in each clubs’ interest to ensure their members conform to the conditions of the concession:

IT IS A PRIVILEGE – NOT A RIGHT!”

GENERAL BUSINESS

Murray Rudler

Bikes that were initially licensed as solo ma-chines but have had a sidecar attached, must be re-examined and licensed by the machine examiner to be legal. Failure to do this means that the bike would be

considered as being unlicensed in the event of an accident.

Bikes that were initially licensed with a side-car attached do not require re-examination if the sidecar is removed later. Members are asked to please check their license papers. If the papers are endorsed “SOLO”, please con-tact Murray Rudler.

John Keenan

The Donnybrook Apple Festival is being held on the 11-12th April, at Egan Park, Donny-brook. Members are asked to display their bikes, especially the more interesting bikes i.e. race bikes at the festival.

This year will be different with several activi-ties and novelty events planned. There will be trophies presented for People’s Choice Award and Best Bike in the different categories. The trophies have been generously donated by Mo-to Warehouse and Murray Rudler.

Note

There are restrictions on when the vendors can set up their displays (7-9am), so rock up when you can. When you arrive at Egan Park, entre off Collins Street and look for the Vintage Steel tent.

The Donnybrook Hotel is closed for renova-tions, so no accommodation is available. The restaurant will be open. The aim of the dis-plays is to help turn Donnybrook into a motor-cycle friendly town.

Michael Rock

Organisers of the National Veteran Rally have received a $2,000 donation towards the run-ning of this event. The money was left over from the previous National Veteran Rally held in Western Australia, which was hosted by the Pre-31 Section of the Vintage Motorcycle Club of WA.

He also showed members a LED light strip, about 200mm (8 inches) long which he pur-chased on-line for less than $12.00. The light strip incorporated taillight, brake light and turn indicator functions, and could be run off a small battery.

Frank Baron

Asked members if they had an old battery with exposed cell connectors they no longer want-ed. The battery is wanted for display purposes by a friend.

AUCTION

Ray Jordan auctioned 2 motorcycle covers, the first was bought by John Keenen and Frank Baron bought the second one. They sold for $20.00 each, raising a total of $40.00 for the auction.

There being no more business, the meeting closed at 8.40pm.

CAPTAINS REPORT FEBRUARY 2020

Busselton Mid-week Ride 19/2/2020

Twenty-two bikes signed on for this mid-week ride. The destination chosen was Option 2; The White Elephant at Prevelly Park, Marga-ret River. The course was conventional; about 75Ks, but we had three major stuff-ups: - (1) my coffee order was lost by the café staff and the refund given was $0.80 short. (2) we lost the first TEC (Terry Bruce), and (3) road works and endless detours at Margaret River scattered the group resulting in an unstruc-tured ride home. Hope everyone made it.

Thanks to Terry Bruce and Peter Whiteside for the TEC shifts.

John Lewin

Busselton Group Liaison Officer

Mandurah Meander 2020

Yes, another cold summer weekend 1st day a little wet next day perfect dry and cool. The Bunbury Crew met up at the Harvey Pie Shop that is when the rain started as we sat around drinking coffee and eating cake for a change. Next leg was to Collie via Mornington Rd got to Collie and still rain topped up the bikes and continued to Williams for lunch.

After lunch we went to Jesse Martin’s Muse-um and looked at his collection, he has been at it for nearly 40 years now. Well worth a look some awesome treasures he has.

Next to the Narrogin Motel just about had the place to ourselves. At night told each other how good we were & went on to the quiz which went very well.

Next morning cloud cover and no rain we all made it to Williams to top up, then to Collie

via Darkan still a good road. Had lunch at Col-lie said our good buys. A big thanks to the Mandurah Mob for organising the run.

2 Day Rally 2020

The weekend started overcast cool but no rain this year, A good line up of bikes cracking the 200 mark. The ladies had the cakes & urn go-ing for the start of the day. Burnie with his commentary is always spot on. So, the bikes are off for day 1 just a few trailer bait that’s OK as long nobody was hurt.

Short course went to Kirup to enjoy the meet-ing hall. Then back to Bunbury club house. Night-time entertainment was good kept peo-ple toe tapping.

Sunday morning good to see the route the same only going in reverse direction for A & B with the main meeting place being Dar-danup Town Hall where tea, coffee and cakes where served then on our way back to the clubrooms to win a sheep station. Thanks to all that helped and made this weekend run smoothly.

Tomorrow we are going to the Harvey Dam via Harvey-Quindanning Rd which has been extended and back to Harvey Dam to have a cuppa with Leith & Margret.

Need someone to do the Bunbury Mid-week Ride 25th March.

NEW MEMBER NOMINATIONS

The following person has applied for mem-bership to our club. If any member believes it is undesirable for the applicant to be a mem-ber, they should make their objections known to the Secretary 5 clear days before the next ordinary meeting on 0438597290 or PO Box 317 Bunbury WA 6231

NOTICE TO IHC MEMBERS - CORONA VIRUS

PANDEMIC

INDIAN HARLEY CLUB MEMBERS

No doubt you are all very aware of the Corona Virus pandemic that is now significantly affecting the way we go about our daily lives. A significant number of events have already been can-celled both in Perth and the South West of WA.

Our club by its very nature has many senior members that the health professionals have regarded as at high risk to contracting the disease. In ensuring we limit the risk of exposure to the virus and with the health and safety of our club members and their families our first priority, the committee has determined the fol-lowing actions need to be enacted immediately: * There will be no general meeting held until further notice.

* The committee will keep members informed of any club activi-ties and or updates via our current electronic systems and emails.

* All club functions have been postponed until further notice, which will include our planned rides. If members still want to ride the option of impromptu rides is available to be used.

It is with my most sincere regret that we have had to take these actions, however I would much rather be proactive and limit our members and families exposure than being reactive to a situation where we have caused a family significant grief.

Kind Regards

Bill Pike

President IHC Bunbury
