Happy holidays!

From The Pelican

If you were going to give up one object in the whole universe what would it be?I would give up unkindness and meanness.

What was the funniest or most embarrassing moment of your life? When I was in primary school, someone told me about a ghost that lived in the school. I was so scared I wet myself!

What is your favourite food?It depends on my mood, but my favourite food is my mum’s roast dinners.

Would you rather be: tanning in the sun or read a lovely book at home?I love both but I would rather be tanning in the sun.

Milky way or Hershey’s?Milky way!

What was the best moment of your life? The best moment of my life was the birth of both my children!

What is your favourite William Shakespeare play?Taming of the Shrew, as I played Catherine (the main character) in an outdoor performance, in my 20s.

What would you do to help the environment?Continue to do the small things that we already do, recycling, conserving energy. I would continue to educate children for them to do their bit.

What’s your favorite animal?I love dogs and cats, but I am fascinated with zebra!

Would you want to turn back time if you could?Yes, as long as I can turn it back to present day again, any time that I could wear a big dress, a wig and extravagant garments!

• White pom poms in assorted sizes• Black plastic hats• Orange pipe cleaners, cut into small pieces• Googly eyes• Tacky glue• Felt strips for the scarves• Very thin twigs for arms

Creating these snowmen:Select a larger and smaller pom pom. (This is a great lesson on size discrimination.) Squirt some tacky glue on one and stick the other to it.

Then squirt some tacky/PVA glue on the face for the googly eyes and pipe cleaner carrot nose. Working with such small pieces requires concentration and builds fine motor skills.

Squirt some glue around the rim of the hat and plop it on the top of the snowman. Add a twig arm on either side of the snowman’s body.

When the snowman is completely dry, wrap a felt scarf around the neck, if desired.

We are in love with these little snowmen and the children will be too!
