How to Frame & Conserve your JigsawHaving been asked many times for Frames & Glue we thought we would research the market and give you our insight on how best to preserve your favourite jigsaw pictures.
Frames do not need to be expensive - They can be purchased in many outlets or custom made to an exact fit, clip frames are a really cheap option too, but remember you will need to glue your jigsaw so it doesn’t fall apart. However the upside is the joy of having great pictures at quite low cost.
You may purchase frames at your local department store, art store or frame shop, or find great, old frames at garage sales carboots, markets, charity shops or thrift shops.
There are many puzzle glues on the market, but the best we have found is Ravensburger puzzle conserver.This easy to apply and ready to use adhesive is a great way to conserve your jigsaw puzzles.
Carefully slide your finished jigsaw puzzle onto a couple of layers of paper (old newspapers are good). Take the top off the glue and using the sponge applicator, put glue all the way across your puzzle. It’s important to apply a couple of layers of glue if you want to mount the puzzle into a frame. Don’t worry if the glue looks very white when you first apply it – it will dry clear.
However if you prefer a change of picture occasionally and want a really good quality option take a look at the benefits of ‘JIGFRAMES’ available in both lightwood & dark wood
The trouble with most puzzle frames is that they can be difficult to use but there are specially designed frames on the market which are so simple to use that a child can frame a jigsaw in less than a minute.
Almost all other frames for jigsaws rely upon glue to ensure that the jigsaws stay together but not ‘Jig frame’. We believe that the real magic of jigsaws is that they consist of assembled pieces that can equally well be UNASSEMBLED! As soon as you glue a jigsaw it loses both its charm and its value. Use jigsaw glue and you no longer have a jigsaw - whether it is in a puzzle frame or not.

Jigframes are puzzle frames with a hidden secret... Behind the real wooden picture frame that you see is a very thin drawer that you don’t see. To insert a puzzle you simply lay a Jigframe on a table, slide out the drawer, lay the puzzle on the drawer, lay the transparent acrylic sheet on top and then close the drawer. In a twinkling of an eye your puzzle is enclosed in a jigsaw frame that is indistinguishable from the best picture frames.
Jigframe is available in many sizes but the most popular sizes are as follows:
Jigframe 500: Jigsaw puzzle frame for 500 piece puzzles.Puzzles as small as 480mm x 340mm and as large as 494mm x 364mm
Jigframe 1000: Jigsaw puzzle frame for 1,000 piece puzzles.Puzzles as small as 680mm x 483mm and as large as 702mm x 510mm
These two puzzle frames fit most popular makes of puzzle including Gibsons, Ravensburger, and Falcon etc.
In order to make it as easy as possible to frame your puzzles you need two “Jigsheets” and these are included with every Jigframe purchase. The Jigsheets enable you to quickly transfer your completed puzzles from the surface on which they were constructed and slip them into the puzzle frame. Full instructions are provided.
