True Stories of Some of the DumbestCrooks on Earth:

Daniel Glen is a guy who liked to knockoff convenience stores, but unlike mostof the other geniuses who partake insimilar exploits, he had a peculiarmodus operandi. He wanted to be surethat there was enough money on hand tomake the trip worth while, so he calledthe store clerks ahead of time to get acount of what was in the register. Thenhe had them get the money ready inbags for him to collect. Somehow itnever dawned on him that this was aquick way to get caught.

"COORS BEER" BATTER FISH &CHIPS

1 cup flour (more or less depends onhow much you make)2 eggssalt and pepper1 24 ounce can of Coors beerfries (frozen kind)vegetable oil (for frying)1 or 2 lbs. cod fishtarter sauce1 lemon

In a large ceramic bowl, crack the eggsand drop 2 in and beat them well. Setaside.Add 1 cup of flour and beer, mixinguntil you get a somewhat heavy pancakelike batter, it must be heavier or thickenough to not drip off the fish so easily.Add flour or beer until you have thecorrect consistency, adjusting batter asneeded. A slightly thick batter is ok!

Preheat the fryer with vegetable oilclose to about 365°F fry each side untilgolden brown, but not too brown! oncecooked lay each piece on the side ofyour metal cheese grater to drain. putplate underneath also.) now dip or addthe pieces of cod fish into the batter, blend well. fish should also be cut in 2-3" thick strips. now dip in flour with alittle salt and pepper added andblended-to taste. time to fry your fishand chips! cook til golden brown!

Occasionally use a cooking typescooper with a metal screen and handleto clean out the burtn residue of theflour. This will keep the oil clean.

Condiments: tarter sauce, lemonwedges, and malt vinegar.

I picked up a bottle of Rayon Vert, a Bel-gian-style Pale Ale. The label is very bor-ing and could use a serious modern up-grade. Perhaps that's what they mean by"Continuously Evolving" at the bottom ofit. The thumbnail tropical scene just isn'tdoing it! I do like that they have GreenFlash and their sunset logo stamped intothe bottle.

Enormous head. I swear I thought that thebeer was infected based on the bottle popand pour, but nope. Yeast, citrus and soaparoma, with plenty of pungent funk. Tooka long time for the head to recede enoughto even get near the beer.

Orange and citrus flavors, sweet and tangysimultaneously. Next up, some hay andplenty of funk. The 7.0% alcohol shows alittle as it makes the lemon rind flavorsreally pop. Thick and chewy texture. TheBelgian yeast inspiration is clearly notedas well, quite a yeasty beer.

Spicy and peppery toward the end beforea very dry finish. Rayon Vert started out alittle strange but that's just the way it issometimes with the style. A definite "growon you kind of beer". Check it out!

SYDNEY AUTO SHOW SEESLEXUS LF-LC BLUE

Australia Lexus has revealed the stunning LF-LC Blue concept at the Australian Interna-tional Motor Show in Sydney. Clad in unique Opal Blue, it is the second version of theLF-LC, first debuted at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.

The all-new Opal Blue exterior is inspired by the lustrous base color found in the naturallyoccurring semi-precious opal stone of outback Australia.

Beneath the blue skin LF-LC combines advanced technologies and materials with organicdesign, giving an insight into what the future of sports cars may hold. Central to theconcept is a suite of advanced materials and technologies, including lightweight carbonfiber and the next generation of Lexus’ industry-leading hybrid powertrain.

New to LF-LC and derived from project LFA, LF-LC leverages Lexus’ extensive in-houseexperience in marrying carbon fiber and aluminium alloy materials to achieve a light bodymass. The result is an extremely taut body that responds quickly and crisply to driverinputs – providing the perfect platform for the next-generation Lexus Hybrid Drivesystem.

Dubbed Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive, the system features a powerful and efficientAtkinson cycle combustion engine which is mated to an advanced high-energy batterypack. The high-energy battery pack is designed to deliver greater power from a smallerbattery than those currently used in Lexus’ range of hybrid vehicles. Combined, the LF-LCBlue concept’s gas\electric hybrid powertrain develops 372kW (500hp) – the most of anyLexus hybrid.

Lexus Australia’s Tony Cramb said that LF-LC Blue is a demonstration of what the futuremay hold for sports cars.

“For decades, Lexus has been synonymous with hybrid drivetrains, superior build quality, comfort and reliability,” Cramb said. “With the LF-LC we now reinforce our design andtechnology credentials. The LF-LC is absolutely stunning. Its good looks mask some veryexciting design and engineering innovations that will influence Lexus vehicles in thefuture.

“LF-LC is part concept, part reality: the concept hints at what’s to come from Lexus, whilethe reality has us actively studying how we can engineer and build a vehicle like this in thefuture.”

Supporting LF-LC’s engineering feats is a stunning, technology-laden exterior andinterior, clad in a new white and brown interior. Commanding the concept’s bold front endare sculpted “L” shaped daytime running lights, vertical fog lamps and a fading dot matrixpattern to convey a sense of movement.

Continuing the sense of motion, LF-LC’s side profile is commanded by deeply sculpted airintakes behind the doors. A wrap-around glass roof provides a panoramic view to theoutside world while slicing through the air.

The concept car’s glass roof features a lightweight, cantilevered pillar with a glass-to-glassjunction inspired by modern architecture. LF-LC’s dynamic lines are carried through to therear deck, sculpturally integrating the spindle grille theme to complement the front of thevehicle while creating a unique sense of width. Tail lamps, inspired by a jet aeroplaneafterburner, make use of inner lighting to create a remarkable sense of depth. The rear is also fitted with fog lamps, repeating the fading dot matrix pattern of the frontfog lamps. Visually, the integrated tail and fog lamps repeat the “L” shape and lead theviewer’s eye down to the powerful Lexus quad exhaust.

The interior of the LF-LC concept contrasts the cool ambience of advanced technologywith soft textures and organic shapes to create a driver-focused synergy of form andfunction. The cockpit expresses a feeling of both openness and security. The driver isenveloped by deeply scooped side panels and a high, curved console. The effect is tofocus the driver zone on the controls and on the road.

Based on Lexus’ commitment to creating an intuitive driving experience, the LF-LC incorporates a remote touch-screen device that allows the driver to comfortablyoperate controls without shifting position or altering their line of sight.

Twin 12.3-inch LCD screens provide information and navigation display. Inputs comefrom a touch-screen control board piercing the swept centre console. The interface is usedto control the audio system, climate controls and navigation, and features a pop-up touch-screen keyboard for more complex entries. Set directly in front of the driver, multi-levelmeters layer analogue and LCD technologies. The bottom layer displays temperature, fueland the background for the Eco meter. The middle layer is the tachometer mechanicalcentre ring. The topmost layer provides indicators for the tachometer, speedometer andEco meter.

Surfaces throughout the cabin are presented in a combination of smooth leather and suede, with brushed metal trim and wood accents. The lightweight, race-inspired front seats areformed of multiple layers and repeat the interlacing curves that define the cabin interior. The racing-style steering wheel is clad in lightweight carbon fiber and contains integratedcontrols and start button.
