The global telecommunications industry continues to expand as spending by consumers and businesses for wireless services fuels industry revenue growth. The year 2014 has been a turnaround year for the telecom industry in many ways. Buoyed by an improved regulatory environment, increased smartphone penetration and healthy uptake of data services in 2013 showing some strong revenue growth. Also, as we move into 2014, a number of wireless and mobility trends like Cloud, Machine-To-Machine Communication, Big Data and LTE 4G Rollouts are poised to have great impact on the networking industry. Last year, we saw the tremendous growth of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and Bring Your Own App (BYOA) in enterprises and organizations of all sizes, as well as the emergence – and rapid traction – of 802.11ac. These, along with the new trends, will continue to influence the market as the calendar turns to 2014. These trends will bring out new scenarios and more exciting business prospects, transforming the inter-operability and communications making our lives simple, smarter and hassle-free. "We are at a point where it is no longer a stretch to imagine that much of what and who we interact with will be connected to the Internet," - By Cearley

“THE CLOUD COMPUTING VISION”

“Cloud Computing is enabling the agility required by organizations to be the leaders in today’s ever growing global economy.”

During the last several decades, dramatic advances in cloud computing power, storage, and networking technology have allowed the human race to generate, process, and share increasing amounts of information in several ways. As new applications of computing technology are evolved, these applications are often used in ways that their designers never envisioned. New applications, in turn, lead to new demands for even more powerful computing infrastructure.

CLOUD MODEL:

CLOUD TODAY: Cloud is a service which is delivered from a remote location enabling businesses to have greater scalability and most important availability of that service which could be economically justified in-house. Companies are building cloud services which focuses upon- “the ability for customers to sign up online, provision them and pay as they go.” Cloud today has enabled the agility required by organizations to be leaders in today’s ever growing global economy. It is accelerating the time to market for new products and services while reducing the cost, to design, build, deploy and support these products and services. “The Cloud Computing has the ability to fundamentally change the way IT services are delivered and consumed”

“The market has successfully progressed from Infrastructure as A Service to more complex offerings around Platform as A service and Software as A service.”

The two organizations that have solved business problems by utilizing PaaS are:

Financial Services Cloud Success State Government Cloud Success

WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY’S “VISION” FOR CLOUD COMPUTING : This question itself lays down the foundation for a CLOUD COMPUTING STRATEGY. The cloud computing storm is already brewing up, adding self service and metered usage to the virtualized grid, enabling capabilities such as dynamic workloads and automated provisioning. By undertaking the disciplined approach and sustainable architecture organizations have gained multiple benefit’s like:

“Cloud services can be deployed in different ways, depending on the organizational structure and the

provisioning location.”

“THE CLOUD COMPUTING VISION”

By undertaking the disciplined approach and sustainable architecture organizations have gained multiple benefit’s like: Improved Agility Reduced CAPEX and OPEX Scalability Collaboration Efficiency Flexibility of work practices Reduced IT costs

A company’s architecture plays an important role in determining as to how cloud should be leveraged to attain the goals and objectives. The deployment of cloud in organizations depends on varied of technical and organizational factors which are: The extent of infrastructure standardization among the existing application silos of the current state

architecture. The complexity and degree of customization and integration of the current state architecture. The willingness of lines-of-business to share infrastructure instead of ―owning their own. The extent to which the current state architecture must accommodate legacy systems . Past experience of the IT department in deploying technologies and concepts critical for clouds. So whether trying to create a private cloud to better serve internal customers or building a public cloud for an external customer base, there are several key considerations linked to successful cloud initiatives: Understand the IT service portfolios, service-level requirements and service costs before building a private

cloud service. Develop separate strategic plan for all services under consideration, as well as an analysis against external

service offerings Build a private cloud service only after developing a complete business case analysis Evaluate and constantly benchmark the solution against external cloud service offerings .

HOW CLOUD CHANGES YOUR BUSINESS? Capitalizing on cloud computing means being prepared for significant changes across the organization. The following describes just a few of the ways that cloud affects each functional area:

“At The Highest Level, Cloud Computing Become A Lens To View

Other Companies Dynamics”

“Companies Reassess Their Strategy, Looking At Where Cloud Can Accelerate Projects Or Enable Them To Take Advantage Of New

Opportunities.”

AT&T adds Cary, N.C., to gigabit network list:

The agreement will clear the way for AT&T to deploy its 1Gbps capable “U-verse with GigaPower” platform. The plan outlines “potential fiber deployments to deliver ultra-fast broadband to parts of Cary,” but has yet to identify which areas will be getting access to the Telco's fiber-based GigaPower network. “This investment by AT&T is in addition to its ongoing investment to expand its fiber network to tens of thousands of North Carolina residents and businesses over the next two years.”

CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) adds new pay-by-the-hour capabilities to its cloud platform: CenturyLink is offering its new and existing business customers a new way to consume managed services by introducing an on-demand option on its cloud platform. Offering pay-by-the-hour billing, businesses can select how they want to consume managed services such as web servers, middleware, directory services and database applications, along with operating systems.

MTS “New Voice Customers” now to enjoy free- talk time offers: Since, MTS has always known for its range of innovations in Indian Telecom Market, once again it has come up with a new campaign called “Offer Ka Sikander”. Under this offer new voice customers will enjoy the benefit of Free-Talk time bundled with SIM-cards, full talk time on recharge of Rs30 to Rs149 and also 10% extra talk-time on recharge of Rs150 and beyond for a period of one year. This offer will attract customers in high-value corporate and SME roaming segment.

Sprint Lines Up Banks for T-Mobile Takeover Bid: Sprint have lined up eight banks to arrange USD20 billion worth of debt funding for its expected takeover bid for T Mobile USA. That is on top of a shareholder loan of USD20 billion from its majority shareholder, Japan's Softbank. The funding would cover the estimated USD32 billion cost of the takeover bid, plus refinancing of T-Mobile's debt. The banks lining up the initial US$20 billion of lending as JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs Group, Deutsche Bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Citigroup. In addition, Japanese banks Mizuho Financial Group, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group are also said to have been approached

BlackBerry Signs Deal for Access to Amazon App store: It seems as BlackBerry is working on solving the app deficit problem plaguing its BlackBerry 10 devices. The company will offer two app stores - BlackBerry World and Amazon App store when BlackBerry 10.3, the forthcoming release of its OS is seeded to the public in September-October 2014. Making the Amazon App Store available on BlackBerry 10 device will help BlackBerry to meet two essential needs:

LEADERSHIP “AT WORK”

Excerpted from www.springschurch.com The article was originally written by Calagry Sun

INVEST IN TOMORROWS LEADERS!!! Are you so busy putting out fires that you lack time to invest in tomorrow’s leaders? The future of your organization lies in its ability to build up the leaders of tomorrow. Potential is everywhere, but great leaders aren’t built by accident.

Every organization has an insatiable need for incredible leaders. Head hunters will look across the nation for people with the unique and special gifts they need. Many go through leader after leader looking for the one who can take their department to the next level. There’s nothing wrong with that; however, have you ever considered that there are employees in your organization who can be encouraged and groomed to be the leaders you need tomorrow?

You can think ahead to where you need to go and build the skills you will need into potential leaders.

BUILDING TOMORROW’S LEADERS:

1. Encourage them to study leadership. Get great books into their hands and invest in them by sending them to leadership courses and conferences.

2. Keep potential leaders in close contact with you. Reward them with a piece of your time—they’ll learn from you. Take time to discover their skills and abilities and surround them with other mentors in your organization.

3. Continually grow yourself. If you rated yourself out of ten as a leader, where would you rank? A seven can’t lead a nine. If you want to grow top notch leaders, you have to be one yourself.

4. Don’t give out instant leadership. Be careful how you hand out titles. Take your time and make sure they’re ready for the position.

5. Confront and help them change. Everyone loves success. When you take the time to help them become more successful, you’ve made a friend. You can learn to confront with such excellence that it feels more like coaching than confronting. Coaching doesn’t feel like an attack. It still may be uncomfortable, but the person being coached feels your desire to help them be all they can be.

6. Weak leaders dump. Great leaders delegate. When training, follow the steps: I do, you watch. I do, you help. You do, I help. You do, I watch. Notice that you’re never completely out of the picture, but you can move toward leading by objective. After a period of training, you should be able to just check in with them periodically. Lay out the objective and then have them report to you regularly. Do a post-mortem and walk them through what could make things easier and more efficient in the future. "Leadership is not magnetic personality — that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not 'making friends and influencing people' -- that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to high sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations." -- Peter F. Drucker
