In each edition we will keep you updated on our news and events so you do not have to wait until the next Moment to find out what we have been up to! So far, 2012 has been a difficult year for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity: the current economic problems have resulted in fewer donations and the bad weather has ruined some of our fundraising events. Please do continue to support us because, without your help, we will not be able to make a difference to so many people living with cancer. Thank you. Welcome to Mini Moment Our third annual Vintage Fayre at Cressing Temple Barns was a big success. We were worried about the weather but we were lucky and the sun shone all day! As well as the vast array of stalls, there was more live music this year to keep the crowds entertained so it was a great day out for the 2,500 vintage fans who joined us. Thank you to everyone who supported the Fayre which raised around £11,000 for the charity. Congratulations to Eileen Williamson who was the winner of the Olympus camera in the free prize draw. Sun came out for Vintage Fayre www.helenrollason.org.uk We support people living with cancer through research, trials of new cancer treatments and award-winning support centres. In July, we launched Helen’s Grand Prize Draw which will take place on 6 December. There are six fantastic prizes including a £1,000 computer system, £500 cash and a luxury spa weekend. Tickets are only £2 each or £10 for a book of five. We are contacting everyone who kindly sold tickets for the Silk Ball raffle last year to ask if you are able to help us again this year. Thank you to everyone who has said ‘yes’ so far and to those who have already sent back ticket stubs and money. Those tickets were entered into the first of the monthly mystery prize draws on Tuesday 31 July. Sue Barber of Purleigh won £40 of vouchers for the Blue Strawberry Bistro at Hatfield Peverel. Another cafe has supported our Tea for Helen campaign. Greenstead Farm in Greenstead Green, Halstead organised a Tea for Helen tea party day on Wednesday 1 August. The farm’s café donated ten pence from every tea and coffee sold throughout the day and held a raffle. Visitors to the farm were also treated to a speciality tea tasting session by The Colne Valley Tea Company and could take part in a croquet competition. The event raised £125. If you work in a tea shop or café, please join in too! You can keep it simple and just make a small donation per drink sold or you can put on a special event for your customers to show them that you are supporting people living with cancer.
