We started on Monday when some of our older children were fortunate to be able to visit The Priory School for a Space lecture where they learned lots of fascinating things. On Tuesday we kicked off with a brilliant assembly led by ‘Boffin Pan’ from ‘Science Boffins’ who showed us lots of exciting things, including fire! Each class also worked with Boffin Pan through the day on a range of different workshops, as well as all the challenging activities led by the teachers. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to help and to the staff for their great ideas, and especially Mrs Hoar who has organised these special days that the children have LOVED! We would also like to thank the PTA who funded the Science Boffins visit. There are some photographs on the website of our scientists in action! Living Eggs Project It has been a very egg-citing week in school with the arrival of our Living Eggs on Monday. We watched several eggs hatch over the course of Wednesday and the chicks are beginning to grow well. You can follow the progress of the chicks by using the live webcam feed on the school website – click the chick! Next week when the chicks are bigger and stronger parents will be able to pop in after school to see them and bring any younger siblings too; in the meantime we’d be grateful if you could use the webcam to see them; we will text when it’s a good time to pop in. A very big thank you to the PTA who have funded this year’s project again, the children are having a magical time! Easter Service Our Easter Service takes place at 9.15am on Thursday 24 th March starting in the hall and finishing over at Church at approximately 10.30am. All parents, family members and siblings aged 3 and over are most warmly invited to join us for our Easter Worship. Tomorrow A reminder that children can wear sportswear for school tomorrow in exchange for a £1 donation for Sport Relief. After school clubs – please note A reminder that this is the last week of clubs for the spring term apart from Gym club on Tuesday which will run for one final session. New club lists will be sent out after the holidays. Parent Consultations Thank you for returning your Parent Consultation slips. Appointments will be sent home next week. Contact Details Recently we have struggled to contact a number of parents when their child has been ill or injured because their mobile numbers had changed. PLEASE ENSURE WE HAVE AN UP TO DATE EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBER AT ALL TIMES. Thank you. Wow Wow Wow! What a FABULOUS Sunday evening at the Royal Albert Hall watching 20 members of our school choir take part in this year's Hertfordshire music gala. The sound of so many children singing beautifully in the Royal Albert Hall was breathtaking and I am sure that families in the audience will agree, it was a very special event, the memories of which will last a lifetime. As always, the children were a credit to St Ippolyts School, with impeccable behaviour throughout - I am so very proud of each and every one of them! A huge thank you to Mrs Stewart who has prepared the children so well for this special day and also to Miss Ingle and Mrs Archer who helped to accompany the children Bumped Head Procedures If your child has a ‘bumped head’ accident at school, as well as the sticker/first aid report slip, we will now be sending a text to let you know. We will only text if the accident is minor, first aid has been administered and your child is fine; if the accident was more serious or we had any concerns then we would obviously call you. If you receive a text, you are most welcome to phone school for further details or come to school to check your child if you wish. Summer Uniform next term: please read After the Easter holidays children should be dressed in summer uniform only. This consists of summer dresses for girls (not skirts/shirts/ties/trousers). It’s very simple. All we have to do is collect cartridges in the recycle bags provided and put them into our recycle bin located in reception area at school. ‘Empties Please’ will collect the bin when it’s full and then donate the money raised straight back to the school. They will pay us £1 for each original manufacturer cartridge*, 50p for a remanufactured cartridge* and 75p for any original manufacturer branded toner cartridge*. You can collect cartridges from absolutely anywhere; school, work, home, clubs, friends and family. If you could display a bin in your workplace on behalf of the school please contact Allison Lawrence on 07875 703609. Extra bags can be collected from school reception if required. The more cartridges we collect the more we can raise! *At present ‘Empties Please’ are unable to recycle any Epsom, Brother, Oki, Kyocera, Konica Minolta, Xerox and remanufactured toner cartridges
