“I really don’t know how to put it into words,” Wayne said afterwards. “It was really inspiring to see all those people walking. When I go back and look at the video content I’m going to realize how overwhelming it was.” Wayne will continue to raise awareness when he returns to Nashville and hopes that his effort wasn’t in vain. “It’s one step at a time,” he said. “We just have to keep on pushing. It can’t stop here, that’s for sure.” Watch the presentation video, including a Wayne speech and homeless youth testimonies, here.

minute performance can an artist give that will help sell some record going into the primetime sales month. “People were reluctant at first and there’s certainly the ‘why do we need another awards show’ reaction, but everyone was enthusiastic by the end. This does not compete with the ACMs and CMAs. Look at the FOX demo: The key is to create a show that doesn’t look like those other shows and connects with a demo that skews to people in their twenties and thirties. That’s the demo you want to reach as you’re going into the buying season.” The Dec. 6 air date offers advantages beyond proximity to holiday sales. NASCAR’s Cup Series Championship Week precedes the awards, which are also right in the middle of the annual National Finals Rodeo. “Those are key cross-marketing opportunities,” Foster says. “NASCAR has gotten away from its core a little bit and sees this as a great opportunity to get back that country and racing fan. We’ll probably see some specialty programming on the Speed network and FOX Sports to support the awards.” The venue will likely be one of the major casinos; negotiations with several are underway now. And radio will be there. “We’ve talked about radio being key in driving the voting, having flyaway promotions and radio remotes,” Foster says. “FOX is already putting together a plan for that, because radio is that direct line to consumers and they’ll give it that reality check with the voting.” Categories already announced include Artist, Album, Touring Artist and Music Video by a Breakthrough Artist. Don’t expect other categories to hew to traditional forms. “We don’t need another entertainer of the year or male and female vocalists,” he says. “We may look at things like Best Tour Package or Best Summer Song as a way to be relevant and reflect what has gone on in the past year. And the host will be someone from country, but we’d like to give an opportunity to somebody who hasn’t hosted before.” Foster also says FOX is committed to the concept beyond this year. “Next year’s big fall series will be X-Factor, and they’re really setting the [ACA] show up this year with the idea of it getting a tremendous amount of promotion from that next year.” CAC

Legend: A “+” indicates a Classic Country outlet, a “^” designates Country stations in the same market owned by a single operator and a “t” indicates a tie. A “NA” indicates a subscriber-only market, where rankings are not available, or a station programming another format during that ratings period.
