Mrs. WheelerMrs. MARY ALICE WHEELER, widow of the late T. J. WHEELER, long time commissionerof Montague County, died Saturday at the Bowie hospital after an illness of several weeks. Mrs.WHEELER was 81 years old and was born in Tennessee, Dec. 30, 1867, daughter of Mr. andMrs. HENRY NICHOLS. She had been a resident of Montague County for 60 years. At an earlyage, she joined the Baptist church. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist ChurchMonday afternoon, Feb. 21, with Rev. G. B. BRADSHAW, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev.W. W. BAKER of the Fundamental Baptist Church. Interment was in the Selma cemeterydirected by Burgess funeral home. She is survived by two sons, HOWARD WHEELER ofBowie and T. E. WHEELER of Graham; five daughters, Mrs. H. L. WHITE of Abilene, Mrs.WILLIE RHONE, Mrs. CAP STEWART, Mrs. H. M. SHURBET and Mrs. JOHN SANDERS,all of Bowie, 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.Grandsons were pallbearers, (long list of out-of-town relatives and friends who attended thefuneral.)

Mrs. D. MurphyMrs. DELA ANN MURPHY, age 72, died at her home on Decatur St., Friday, Feb. 18. She hadbeen dead several hours when she was found. She was born in Honey Grove, Texas, Feb. 14,1867, and was a resident of Bowie the past 30 years. Her husband, ROBERT J. MURPHY,preceded here in death several years ago. He was a former editor of the Bowie Booster and bothwere active in civic organizations in Bowie. Services were conducted Saturday, Feb. 19, from theFirst Methodist Church with Rev. J. C. MANN officiating, assisted by Rev. G. B. BRADSHAWof the First Baptist Church. Interment was in the Elmwood cemetery directed by Burgess funeralhome. She is survived by three sons, HOMER MURPHY of Bowie, DENNIS MURPHY ofLubbock, and ROBERT MURPHY of Austin, a daughter, Mrs. O. A. GREEN of Knox City; twosisters, Mrs. TRUDIE OGLE of Bowie and Mrs. R. W. VINSON of Clarendon; sixgrandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers: J. M. SCOTT, BERT LANCASTER,EMIN HEARD, JOE HAMNER, ORJE GARRETT, and J. C. MCNATT.

Mrs. S. E. WilliamsFinal rites were held Monday, Feb. 21, at the Burgess funeral home chapel for Mrs. SARAHELLEN WILLIAMS, age 90, pioneer resident of Bowie since 1878. She died Saturday night ather home in East Bowie. She was born in Texas, Nov. 17,1858, and came to Bowie in 1878before the railroad came to Bowie. With her father and her husband, she helped build the firstfew houses in the city. Together they established the first newspaper in Bowie, later became theBowie Cross Timbers, then the Bowie Blade. Rev. BEN GATES of the Cumberland PresbyterianChurch of Wichita Falls officiated. Interment was in the Elmwood cemetery. She is survived by

two nephews, WESLEY and CHARLES HICKMAN, both of Bowie, and a niece, Mrs. W. W.PATTRSON of Bluegrove, Texas.

Eugene PollardFuneral services were conducted Monday, Feb. 21, from the Methodist Church in Montague forEUGENE LON POLLARD, age 73, a retired Salem, Oregon, salesman, who died after asuffering from a heart attack at Globe, Arizona, last week. He was en route to Bowie where heplanned to make his home with a nephew, BERT POLLARD. Mrs. Pollard was born inMontague and lived there until years ago when he moved to Oregon. Rev. JOHN COXofficiated. Interment in the Montague cemetery directed by Burgess funeral home. He is survivedby the following niece and nephews, GLEN PRIBBLE of Montague, BERT POLLARD ofBowie and Mrs. HOMER WALTERS of Bowie.

Mrs. FLORENCE PITTMANMrs. FLORENCE E. PITTMAN, age 54, died Saturday night, Feb. 19, at her home in Ringgold.She had made her home in Montague County many years. She was born at Gilmer, Texas, andwas a member of the First Christian Church since girlhood. Services were held Monday at theOwens &Brumley funeral home chapel with Rev. JOHN WEBB and Rev. W. E. WORLEYofficiating. Interment was in the Elmwood cemetery. Survivors are her husband, J. L.PITTMAN; daughters HAZEL PITTMAN of Ringgold and LAURA DAUGHERTY ofKennedale; sons, J. D. PITTMAN of Ringgold and JOHN HENRY PITTMAN who is in the U.S. Navy.

GillFuneral services were held Thursday afternoon, Feb. 24, at the Baptist church in Bellevue forOSCAR LEE GILL, age 81, who died at his home in the Vashti community, where he had been aresident for the past 65 years. He had been in ill health the past five years. Mr. Gill was born inShelby County, Kentucky, Aug. 28, 1867, and was a retired farmer. Rec.
