There are 38 member companies in the Insurance Association of Pakistan. During 2016 Insurance Premium collected amounted to PKR 253 billion, the total collection over the last five years was PKR 983 billion. The claims paid in 2016 were of PKR 91 billion and during the last 5 years claims worth PKR 363 billion were made. During 2016, the insurance sector paid taxes to the government of PKR 15.64 billion and during past 5 years PKR 60.58 billion was paid. This helped greatly in the social development of Pakistan.

HASANALI ABDULLAH: Starting in the 1970s and increasingly in the 1990s, Islamic countries as well as other countries with a significant Muslim population have encouraged the provision of financial services, including insurance, under Islamic principles As a result, a number of Islamic insurance companies, called 'Takaful' insurers, have been established to provide . coverage. Takaful Operations are growing. Further growth in Takaful market is expected in the coming years as now many conventional insurance companies have started Window Takaful operations. The customers of both Takaful and theconventional insurance are satisfied with the facilities provided to them. PAGE: YOUR VIEWS ON FUTURE OF INSURANCE IN PAKISTAN: HASANALI ABDULLAH: The iInsurance penetration can increase with increased documentation of the economy. nsurance industry has proposed to to introduce no fault compensation payment upon accidental death throughout the governmentPakistan, which could save payments in case of major accidents where number of are lost. Tax the government from ad-hoc livesat 1% is deducted in advance from filer policy holders of ife nsurance ompanies on the life insurance premium that none tax l i cshould be exempted as this is resulting in the diversion of funds from life insurance companies. Taxes on personal life insurance should be removed to minimize the cost of protection for the citizens of Pakistan. Health Insurance Scheme should be made compulsory both in public and private sectors to increase insurance penetration and for providing health coverage the forworking class of Pakistan. Takaful is a community pooling system based on the principles of brotherhood and mutual help wherein participants contribute in a fund to help those who need it the most in times of financial crisis. Takaful is based on Shariah principles. EFU has embarked upon a task to bring in awareness among employees and marketing personnel in the company who are involved in Takaful business.
Keeping this aspect in view, Human Resource Department, Head Office, arranged a comprehensive Takaful Training Program for two groups of officers working in Departments / Divisions / Branches in locale of Karachi. This training program was comprised of 21 hours thorough training in total 7 days, each comprising of 3 hours duration. This training programme is approved by SECP.
Mr. M. Vaqaruddin, Head of Window Takaful Operations and Mufti Ibrahim Essa, Shariah Advisor conducted these training sessions. These training sessions were attended by 71 officers of EFU General. HR has a plan to arrange further sessions till it trains all individuals in EFU General Insurance Limited who are associated with Takaful business throughout Pakistan.
In order to recognize efforts of trainees, certificates were distributed among participants. Certificate distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. Mahmood Lotia, Sr. Deputy Managing Director, Head Office.

1. If your car is destroyed by natural disaster, your comprehensive insurance pays for it.
2. The Company will be liable to pay any accidental loss or damage caused by or contributed to by or arising from nuclear weapon material.
